Wings vs. Tempo Preview

Dallas and Toronto are set to meet for the second time this season. The Wings comfortably handled the Tempo in the first meeting, and it seems like something similar could happen in the rematch. The underdogs will be missing a key scorer once again.

Marina Mabrey is averaging a career-high 20.6 points per contest, but her co-star, Brittney Sykes, is still recovering from a left plantar fascia injury. Her 20.1 points per game will be sorely missed against the Wings' borderline top-five scoring defense.

Toronto is actually averaging more points per game (90.4) without Sykes this season. However, it hasn't eclipsed 80 points in three straight contests. The Tempo will need more dynamic offensive contributors on the perimeter to compete, as Azzi Fudd is quickly establishing herself as a defensive pest.

Isabelle Harrison has provided a much-needed spark by averaging 15.7 points without Sykes this season. She isn't likely to remain a consistent No. 2 option in this matchup as a career 8.0-point-per-game scorer, though.

Wings vs. Tempo Prediction

Toronto did maintain its scoring prowess when Sykes first went down with an injury. However, the Tempo's games haven't exceeded 169 points in three consecutive outings. Dallas is arguably the worst team to face while enduring a scoring drought.

The Wings have seen 13 of their games go under the total this season, the most in the WNBA. All signs point to the home team struggling to match its regular-season average of 89.3 points per game. Toronto's offense has been below average despite producing 9.3 made 3-pointers during its current three-game losing streak.

Best Bet: Under 178.5 (-108, FanDuel)
