The New York Liberty are on track to finish second in the Eastern Conference standings for a second consecutive season. The Atlanta Dream are on top right now, but improved health could help the 2024 champs close the gap.
Breanna Stewart is leading the way as an elite scorer and rebounder, but has been in serious need of a co-star. She has one in Sabrina Ionescu, who returned to the hardwood for the first time since May, a little over a week ago. The dynamic point guard still needs to shake off some rust, though.
Ionescu is averaging career lows in points per game (8.8), rebounds per game (3.0) and assists per game (3.5) so far this season. That kind of production won't cut it against the Sparks' lead guard, who appears set to return from injury on Sunday.
Kelsey Plum is off the injury report after missing time with a lower left leg issue, and few players have scored the basketball as well as her this year. She's posting a career-high 25.0 points per game, and only A'ja Wilson can top that mark.
Plum's efficiency has also been ridiculous, as she's shooting 54.0% from the field and 40.5% from deep. Scoring isn't her only strength. She's also dishing out a career-high 6.4 assists per game.
New York does have one of the league's best scoring defenses, so Plum could really have to work as Los Angeles' offensive engine.
Only two teams are giving up fewer points per game (82.6) to opposing teams so far. Plum has typically had the tools to produce at home this season, though.
Liberty vs. Sparks Prediction
Plum has been extremely consistent on offense this year, regardless of the venue. She's averaging exactly 25.0 points at home and away through 11 outings in 2026.
The Washington product has fallen short of 19 points three times on the road this campaign, but has eclipsed 24 points in five of her six appearances at Crypto.com Arena.
Plum rattled off 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting in her only home matchup against a top-5 defense this year.
All signs point to another aggressive performance, as only three players are putting up more shots per game (15.8) than Plum. Only Wilson can exceed her efficiency in that group.
