Fire vs. Wings Preview

The third matchup between the Wings and Fire has major postseason implications. Dallas and Portland are the last two teams that haven't clinched a playoff spot or been eliminated from the playoffs this year.

The Wings only have to win one of their remaining six regular-season games to keep their title hopes alive, while the Fire need to win out. That dynamic could make Tuesday very interesting.

Dallas recently rebounded from a two-game losing streak by topping the Indiana Fever and Seattle Storm in its previous two outings.

It's figuring things out without Azzi Fudd, who has been ruled out for the year with a knee injury. Portland won't make things easy for the favorites as one of the WNBA's most dynamic offensive teams this month.

The Fire are averaging 91.3 points per game in August and are fresh off scoring 100 points against the Washington Mystics, who boast the WNBA's second-best scoring defense.

Carla Leite, Bridget Carleton, and Megan DiLeo have all posted at least 15.4 points per game during Portland's last eight contests. That trio should have an easier time than usual putting the ball in the basket against Dallas without Fudd roaming the perimeter.

Fire vs. Wings Prediction

Portland's recent offensive surge has worked wonders for it against the spread.

The Fire have covered in six of their previous seven games despite having faced two top-five defenses. The Wings allow the fewest points per game, but the visitors have had success against them in 2026.

The Fire are a perfect 2-0 against the spread against the Wings this season and won once as 3.5-point underdogs. Portland's hot shooting can help it improve to 3-0 against the spread against a lesser version of Dallas.

Best Bet: Fire +8.5 (-112, DraftKings Sportsbook)
