Sky vs. Mercury Preview

The Sky are looking for their first win, or at least their first single-digit loss, but will face a tough challenge against a Mercury team that's 3-0 at home this season. Phoenix is coming off a six-point win over the Mystics and has been led offensively by Satou Sabally.

Sabally, who spent the first five seasons of her career in Dallas, is averaging a career-high 19.8 points per game and is coming off a 12-point, nine-rebound performance.

Phoenix is deservedly favored in this game, but if Angel Reese (9 points and 13.7 rebounds per game) and the Chicago Sky are going to pull off the upset, they'll need to contain Sabally.

Sky vs. Mercury Prediction

The market is really in love with Chicago and I simply don't get it.

The Sky have gotten absolutely smoked in each game and Phoenix is a nightmare matchup. The Mercury force a ton of turnovers and have a great frontcourt defense. I could see Phoenix leading this game wire-to-wire, but wouldn't oppose simply taking the first-half line if you're scared of a backdoor cover. However, nothing the Sky have shown thus far suggests they're capable of that.

I'm not sure what's going on with Ariel Atkins, who is averaging a career-low 9.3 points per game and her 2.7 rebounds per game are her fewest since she averaged 2.4 per game as a rookie in 2018. Conversely, I wish Maddy Westbeld props were available as I expect the Sky forward to have a big game tonight.

That being said, I'm still backing the Mercury to cover at home.

Best Bet: Mercury -6.5
