With head coach Marcus Freeman set to go into his fourth year at the helm of the Fighting Irish, he was as close as it gets to hoisting the first national title in South Bend since 1988. The Irish lost to Ohio State in the National Championship game, 34-23.

After relying on Duke transfer Riley Leonard at QB, Notre Dame will seemingly go much younger at the position with a homegrown guy. The QB position appears to be a two-man race between CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey.

ND is expected to be favored in all of their regular season contests this upcoming fall with tough tests at Miami in their season opener, Texas A&M the next week, at Arkansas, and home dates against USC and Boise State.

With only six players drafted, the Irish were able to bring back a ton of talent on their 2024 squad, including Heisman hopeful Jeremiyah Love.

But what does that mean for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish betting odds ahead of the 2025 season? Here are some key things to know if you are looking to get involved in betting odds featuring Notre Dame regarding the point spreadover/undermoneylines and more.

Betting on Notre Dame

Ahead of a key season for the Fighting Irish, there are a number of ways that you can bet, such as the aforementioned point spread, moneyline, over/under and much more. If you want to get behind the Fighting Irish to win the National Championship, you can bet on the futures market or even the Heisman Trophy market, perhaps for Jeremiyah Love.

With another year of continuity under Freeman, it may be a big chance for Notre Dame to reach the 12-team playoff once again.

Betting Notre Dame Point Spreads

Betting point spreads are wagers based on the expectation that a team will win or lose by a certain number of points. Here’s an example:

  • Notre Dame -2.5 (-110)
  • Liberty +2.5 ( -110)

In this situation, Notre Dame is favored by 2.5 points against Liberty. If the Fighting Irish win the game by three or more points, a $100 wager on ND would come with a payout of $90.91. If the Flames won the game outright or lost by two points or less, the same $100 wager would net $110 plus the original $100 for a total of $210.

Betting Notre Dame Over/Unders

Over/unders, also known as point totals, are wagers placed on the combined scoring of a single game. Bookmakers come up with a number and you can either bet the over or — you guessed it — the under. Here’s how it works:

Let’s say Notre Dame plays BYU and the over/under is set at 70 points. A wager on the over would require the Fighting Irish and Cougars to score 71 total points or more to win. Betting the under is an expectation that the two teams would score 69 or fewer points. It’s also possible for the bet to push, which would happen if the game finished with exactly 70 points scored.

Betting on Notre Dame Moneylines

Check out this example:

  • Notre Dame -160
  • Army +180

The minus (-) and plus (+) signs distinguish the favorite from the underdog, making Notre Dame the favorite in this scenario. Odds can be understood more clearly if you think in terms of $10 or $100 increments. A wager on the Fighting Irish odds would mean every $160 bet nets $100. And it’s the opposite for underdogs: Here the Army moneyline was set at +180, meaning a $100 wager would profit $180.

Moneylines are also commonly used when making parlays, which are multiple bets tied into one. Let’s say you bet on Notre Dame’s moneyline and a -2.5 point spread. In this situation, Notre Dame would need to win by three points for that bet to be successful. The risk may be greater, but so is the reward with increased odds.

Betting on Notre Dame Props

Player props are wagers  on a single player, and they’re tied to a single stat found in the box score for a game or even the whole season.

However, it is important to note that rules differ from state to state regarding college football player prop rules, so be sure to check the rules of the state that you are in.
