Here's everything you need to know about the Juan Francisco Estrada vs. Bam Rodriguez odds for Saturday, June 29.
This Saturdayn-night boxing headliner on DAZN – which goes up against Teofimo Lopez, and even UFC 303 – could be the fight of the weekend.
Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez (19-0, 12 KOs) was a unified champion at flyweight and is moving back up to the equally entertaining super flyweight class to take on the best in the division, Ring Magazine and WBC champion Juan Francisco Estrada (44-3, 28 KOs).
This is a boxing fan's fight.
And if you casually keep up with the sport on any level, this is worth watching even more than Lopez vs. Steve Claggett over on ESPN.
The Estrada vs. Rodriguez line should be closer than it is, but still, we'll have a play for this one.
Here's my Estrada vs. Rodriguez pick and prediction for Saturday with main-event walkouts scheduled for approximately 11 p.m. ET.
Estrada vs. Rodriguez Breakdown & Analysis
Rodriguez has been pegged with "future superstar" status. The Mexican-American San Antonio native is 5-foot-4 with a 67-inch reach, equal to the fellow Mexican Estrada on the former and has a one-inch edge on the latter.
Not sure how much we'll need to worry about that on Saturday, though.
Phoenix will be treated to, largely, a Mexican-style war that could reasonably go 12 rounds.
Rodriguez, 24, initially was the WBC super flyweight champion. He scored a star-making win over Carlos Cuadras in February 2022 and defended his title successfully twice that year before moving down to flyweight in 2023, when he secured the WBO title against Cristian Gonzalez.
In December, Rodriguez stopped Sunny Edwards – the IBF titlist at flyweight – in nine rounds to unify. And that was seen as a nearly 50-50 fight at one point.
Estrada has three losses, all by decision, and none since Wisaksil Wangek beat him by majority decision in 2018. That's the same man Bam stopped in 2022, three years after Estrada won the rematch by unanimous decision.
Estrada is 8-0 with three knockouts since that loss. He also lost to Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez in 2012 and a little-known Juan Carlos Sanchez Jr. in 2011.
Both losses were avenged – Estrada beat Gonzalez twice, once in 2021 by a split decision and again in December 2022 by majority decision, his most recent fight. Estrada has 47 pro fights to Rodriguez's 19, has been out of the ring 12 months longer, and is 34 – 10 years older than Bam.
Estrada vs. Rodriguez Prediction & Pick
Rodriguez is younger, more active and overall just better right now. He's not infallible and is, in my opinion, overpriced enough for me to consider a sprinkle on his opponent and or on a draw (which is priced +1800 at ESPN BET). But it's more likely than not that Bam will regain a title at super flyweight against the older, less active Estrada.
I like Rodriguez winning this by decision at +125 on FanDuel. At the time of this writing, FanDuel's line is substantially better than the rest of the market.
Estrada hasn't been stopped, and while Rodriguez is a great volume puncher – so is his opponent. Estrada has six stoppage wins in 13 title fights. Bam has two in five title fights.
Enjoy the fight, and don't go broke.
The Pick: Bam Rodriguez by Decision (+125 at FanDuel)
