Best Female Actor Winner Odds, Predictions
Odds are via Kalshi and update every hour.
Jessie Buckley Odds
Jessie Buckley is the overwhelming favorite to take home the Golden Globe. She was nominated for her performance in Hamnet, a Chloé Zhao-directed historical drama based on the inspiration behind William Shakespeare's Hamlet.
In the film, which scored 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, Buckley plays Agnes Shakespeare, the female lead counterpart to Paul Mescal's William Shakespeare. Screen Daily's Tim Grierson wrote in his review that "the regularly superb Buckley is revelatory as a wild creature who experiences the exhilaration of motherhood as well as the heartbreak of loss," one of many to rave about the Irish actress's special performance.
Renate Reinsve Odds
Renate Reinsve, nominated for her work in Sentimental Value, is no newcomer to award nominations. She won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Worst Person in the World back in 2021, widely considered to be her breakout role.
In the Norwegian comedy-drama Sentimental Value, she again worked with director Joachim Trier. Reinsve starred as Nora Borg, daughter of celebrated film director Gustav Borg, played by Stellan Skarsgård. The film has a whopping 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and was ranked No. 21 on IndieWire's "The 100 Best Movies of the 2020s (So Far)."
Julia Roberts Odds
Julia Roberts, a veteran of the silver screen and one of the best-known actresses to be nominated, is receiving recognition for her role as Alma Imhoff in Luca Guadagnino's After the Hunt. With a win at this year's Golden Globes, Roberts would add a fourth globe to her collection.
In After the Hunt, Roberts' Imhoff is a Yale University professor who finds herself caught between two sides of a sexual assault allegation between a friend and a student of hers, causing her to go on her own journey to revisit her past. While the film as a whole got critically panned to the tune of a 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, many critics praised Roberts' individual role. Guy Lodge of Variety claimed that it was her best role since her Academy Award-winning performance in Erin Brockovich, high praise for an actress who has been highly nominated over the past two-plus decades.
