American films may originate in the U.S., but the production networks behind them often stretch far beyond it. Action Network analyzed 3,254 American films released from 2010 through 2026 to see which countries play the biggest role, based on credited film production and allocated worldwide box office.
Unsurprisingly, the U.S. remains dominant, accounting for $220.7 billion in allocated worldwide box office and 62.1% of the total, with 3,174 films carrying a U.S. production credit. Remove the U.S., however, and a much more competitive international picture emerges.
