MLB All-Star Game Same-Game Parlay Picks

SGP Leg 1: National League ML

For the first leg in my MLB All-Star Game SGP, I’m backing the National League to win a lower-scoring ballgame.

This is a well-deserved All-Star Game start for Cristopher Sanchez, the 29-year-old with a 2.62 ERA and 144 strikeouts across 127 frames.

Following a few up-and-down seasons, Dylan Cease has bounced back in a phenomenal way for the Jays, running a 2.56 ERA in around 98 innings. He’s once again one of the sport’s better arms.

While the starting pitching matchup looks evenly matched, the National League has a pretty big advantage across the remainder of the staff — it will be tough to beat the likes of Jacob Misiorowski, Chase Burns, Chris Sale, etc.

Meanwhile, both Tarik Skubal and Garrett Crochet are likely out for the American League staff.

I think the American League boasts a slightly superior lineup, but they’re missing plenty of talent — for example, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Aaron Judge, Byron Buxton and Nick Kurtz are all likely out with injury.

Between the National League’s pitching staff and the American League’s injured lineup, I’m inclined to back the National League to reign supreme.

SGP Leg 2: American League Team Total Under 3.5

As mentioned, the National League’s pitching talent for the All-Star Game is phenomenal.

Misiorowski leads MLB in ERA (1.62), WHIP (0.76), and strikeouts (167). Burns ranks inside the top-10 qualified starters in ERA (2.54). Chris Sale won the Cy Young two seasons ago and has been similarly effective this season (2.20 ERA).

Between those three and Sanchez, the NL has two superstar lefties and two superstar righties atop the rotation. They should have their bases covered in regard to any potential platoon advantages.

And don’t forget Paul Skenes and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, both of whom are expected to make appearances at some point.

I think the AL is held under its team total in this year’s All-Star Game.

Bonus SGP Leg: CJ Abrams Home Run

For those of you looking for a longer-shot parlay in Tuesday’s All-Star Game, I’m looking to take a shot on one player from the National League lineup to blast one out of the park.

It’s unclear how many at-bats each player will get, but I’m hopeful that Washington shortstop CJ Abrams will get at least two in this contest (before some inevitable lineup changes).

I’m a huge fan of Abrams, who smashed 20 homers and drove in 65 runs in the first half.

Also, Citizens Bank Park is a very hitter-friendly park for left-handed batters.
