Derek Carty's Marlins vs Mets Preview, Prediction
I'm looking at the Mets' Juan Soto to hit a home run tonight at +415. You don't see good odds on star players like him all that often, but when you see them, it's always nice because I mean, I could just say he's Juan Soto and stop the analysis there.
The Mets will be facing Eury Perez, who I think is a really good pitcher, and he's certainly been good at preventing home runs this year, so maybe that's partially why we're getting this number.
However, when you look at his actual game logs, Perez has only pitched in a park that boosts home runs twice out of his 14 games. He's pitched at home in Miami, which is an extreme home run-suppressing park. And then everywhere else he's pitched on the road has been the same, except for Cincinnati and Baltimore.
So he goes now to New York, which people don't really consider a hitters' park, and it's not, although it is slightly above average for home runs. That's the one hitter-friendly quality it has.
When you put that together and you look at the composition of the Marlins' bullpen tonight, they have quite a few guys that are going to be tired and probably unavailable.
The one guy in their bullpen who is fully rested, and we may see him for maybe a couple of innings, is Valenti Belazzo, who is not particularly good.
So if Soto can get an at-bat against him, that would definitely help our cause here.
Pick: Juan Soto Home Run (+360, BetMGM)
