Fanatics Fair Play shows up when bettors need it most, and Tuesday night was another perfect example.
When Victor Wembanyama exited the San Antonio Spurs' NBA Playoffs Game 2 matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers after taking a nasty fall and hitting his head on the court, there was immediate concern throughout the NBA world for the newly-crowned NBA Defensive Player of the Year and MVP finalist.
Wembanyama lost his balance as he tried to move around Portland's Jrue Holiday in the paint about halfway through the second quarter of Tuesday's game — which the Spurs lost, 106-103. Upon falling to the ground, Wembanyama went face-first into the ground and remained down, very visibly shaken up.
The Spurs removed Wembanyama from the game and quickly ruled him out for the duration, placing him in concussion protocol. At the time of his departure, the superstar had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.
While Wembanyama's status going forward in the NBA Playoffs will be closely watched by NBA and Spurs fans alike, bettors of Tuesday's Spurs-Blazers game at Fanatics Sportsbook didn't have to worry about their wagers, because Fanatics Fair Play kicked in!
For those unfamiliar, Fanatics Fair Play states that if a player exits a game due to injury in the first or second quarter and is ruled out for the remainder of the game, all straight prop bets on that player are refunded. Parlays are also protected, with the injured player's leg removed entirely.
At Fanatics, that included this seven-leg parlay that wound up paying out nearly $13K. The other six legs hit, so the Wembanyana leg was simply removed, netting a nice payday for this Fanatics bettor.
