Diehard NBA fans live and breathe for their team. For most, that devotion means screaming at the TV from the couch, or if they’re lucky, splurging on a game or two a year to feel the arena electricity in person.

But then there is a legendary tier of supporters. These are the ride-or-die fans who refuse to miss a single second- the ones who vow to track their franchise live from opening night in October all the way through the final buzzer of the postseason.

It is a beautiful, but expensive dream. We set out to calculate exactly what it would cost a fan to witness every single step of the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks' seasons- covering all home games, every playoff series, and the culminating 2026 NBA Finals.

The baseline verdict? Loyalty isn’t just tested by the sweat on the court. It’s tested by the commas in your bank account.

Key Findings

  • To buy a single ticket to every single home game of the season, the playoffs, and the Finals leg, a New York Knicks fan would need $32,711.95.
  • Following the San Antonio Spurs costs less than half of the New York Knicks. A solo fan in Texas can attend all  home games, all playoff matchups, and the Finals for $14,307.76.
  • To put those numbers in perspective, the Knicks' cost is 37.3% of the NYC median household income and the Spurs' cost is 21.6% of the San Antonio median household income.
  • Finals' costs have been driven up this year by the Knicks' inclusion.
  • Madison Square Garden is the most expensive venue in the NBA during the regular season ($14,145), over four times the cost of the league's most affordable campaign (New Orleans at $3,810.00).
  • The Spurs' remain far more affordable, with the regular home game season "only" costing $6,368.12.

The 2026 Spurs and Knicks Finals’ Cost Breakdown

All 30 NBA Teams: Full Regular Season Home Ticket Cost

Calculated strictly for a single seat across all 41 regular season home games, utilizing automated Ticketmaster scraping models across multiple seating sections. This list contains no parking, food, or gear- just pure stadium admission.

  • The New York Knicks anchor the most expensive full-season journey in basketball at $14,145 for a single fan.
  • The New Orleans Pelicans provide the absolute lowest financial barrier to a full season, totaling $3,810.00 for a single fan.

The Final Ledger

Ultimately, the 2026 NBA Finals run proves that the true cost of fandom is dictated entirely by geography. While a stadium seat in San Antonio remains a relatively accessible community treasure, entry to Madison Square Garden has officially crossed into the realm of high-end luxury assets.

For the ride-or-die loyalists, a staggering 37.3% chunk of an average New Yorker's annual salary is the price of admission to sports history- compared to just 21.6% for fans in Texas.

However, regardless of the team, it is the rare fan who can afford the cost of seeing all, or even a majority of games, in the modern NBA. Playoffs and finals simply amplify the wallet hurt.

Methodology

Data Sources: Regular season cost structures were synthesized from The Action Network’s 2025 NBA Family Outing Cost Dataset (which includes 340,000+ Ticketmaster tickets across all teams for the regular season games). Dynamic playoff premiums and 2026 NBA Finals ticket metrics were scraped in real time from StubHub listings.

Data Calculations: To isolate pure, individual admission data and remove non-ticket variables, historical family-of-four models and active group resale blocks were standardized. Average single-game ticket prices were converted to a single-fan basis and multiplied across all 41 regular-season home games. Active marketplace listings on StubHub tracking package groups of four connected seats were divided by a uniform factor of four to calculate the entry cost for a single fan. Playoff and Finals ticket costs were then added to estimate the full cost of attending every home game during a Finals run.

Economic Benchmarks: Cumulative master ticket totals (41 regular season home games +  playoff games + 2026 NBA Finals home games) were weighted against local pre-tax median household income data sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau. Localized baselines are set at $87,640 for New York City and $66,176 for San Antonio. International currency transactions clearing through European markets were processed at a standard bank conversion rate of 1.3382 USD/GBP. All data streams were finalized as of June 11, 2026.
