  • UConn takes on Georgetown in an overmatched Big East battle on Tuesday.
  • The Huskies have been uber-impressive this season, blowing high-quality opponents out.
  • That's why it's no surprise that this line is nearly 25 points, and Keg is backing UConn for the reasons below.

Purdue remains the No. 1 team in the country in the AP Poll this week, but one of the other four unbeaten teams left is getting closer and closer to knocking off the Boilermakers.

The Huskies moved up to No. 2 in the nation this week, earning all 20 of the 60 first-place votes that didn't go to the Boilermakers. UConn opened up Big East play with a bang, cruising past Butler in a 16-point win that saw Adama Sanogo go for 27 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Hoyas have struggled to start the year. Georgetown moved to 5-7 on the season following a loss in its conference opener to Xavier. However, Georgetown did keep it closer than many expected for the majority of the game.

Is there any chance it can keep it close in Storrs on Tuesday night?

Georgetown Hoyas

Georgetown started last season 6-4 before failing to win a single game from Dec. 15 on. At 5-7 so far on the year and heading into Big East play, things are once again beginning to look concerning for the Hoyas.

On the offensive end, Georgetown has been decent, posting an effective field goal percentage of 49.8%. It actually ranks 60th nationally when it comes to made field goals per game.

But one of its best scoring opportunities is likely to be nullified against the Huskies.

The Hoyas rank in the 91st percentile in terms of second-chance points, as they average 13.7 per game. With two of the best rebounders in the country patrolling the paint for UConn, I expect second-chance opportunities to be few and far between.

And while one of their biggest scoring opportunities is limited, their struggles on defense are likely to be taken advantage of. Georgetown ranks outside the top 300 in points allowed (76.5 per game) and total rebounds allowed (38.3).

A matchup against a top-15 UConn team is getting even more difficult for Georgetown.

Connecticut Huskies

Every time I find myself saying how good this UConn team is, it impresses me even more. The Huskies' start to the season is nothing short of amazing, and in my opinion, they're better than Purdue.

Unfortunately for UConn, it likely won't have as many opportunities to add to its resume as Purdue, as it looks to be a top-heavy year in the Big East.

As the non-conference season enters its last legs, it is a good time for a quick look at where things stand across the power conferences. The Big 12's strength is clear with no night off across the league moving forward. Here is a league at each of the power six: pic.twitter.com/gP1yVBAeMq

UConn's lack of challenges in the Big East will likely see the Huskies face some massive numbers to cover. When the Huskies have been a favorite of 30 points or more this season, they've covered every time.

They aren't just great on offense, and they aren't just a strong team defensively. Rather, UConn has done almost everything at a top-10 level.

More importantly, it's done so against strong competition, including Oregon, Alabama, Iowa State and others.

If you one thing could be a concern for UConn — and this may very well be the only thing — it's foul trouble. The Huskies are posting 18.3 fouls per game on average, and if fouls become an issue for both Sanogo and Donovan Clingan, their dominance in the paint can disappear.

Georgetown vs. UConn Betting Pick

One of the few potential issues for the Huskies against the Hoyas could be foul trouble, but I don't see that being a problem here. The Hoyas haven't been great when it comes to drawing fouls, averaging just 16 per game.

I expect complete and total dominance by UConn in nearly every other facet of the game. Georgetown will simply be outmatched against the Huskies. And despite a daunting spread, UConn has proven its ability to cover the big numbers. I think that'll continue in Storrs on Tuesday night.

Back the Huskies as high as a 25-point favorite over the Hoyas.

Pick: UConn -23 (Play to -25)
