Second Half
UNC 88, Duke 72 | Final
Travis Reed: Don't recall Jay Bilas mentioning the spread on air before
Bryan Mears: Yeah was just gonna say that
Scott Miller: loved that
Eli Hershkovich: Channeling his inner Musburger. Under ends up hitting
UNC 74, Duke 57 | 7:40 remaining
Scott Miller: it's actually astonishing how bad duke is at 3s
Connor Nolte: Live total of 167.5 makes no sense
Bryan Mears: Yeah teams will dare them in March to shoot all day. “Win six games by hitting 3s”
Eli Hershkovich: Eh, they won't be able to beat a zone like that. Even a good defensive rebounding team that pushes the pace. UNC a prime example.
UNC 59, Duke 37 | 15:54 remaining
Travis Reed: Coach K doesn't even have to come up with a new speech, can just recycle the one from the Louisville game.
Eli Hershkovich: Who would've thought we'd see Duke +8.5?
Travis Reed:Tomorrow's headline: Zion worth 17 points to the spread
Bryan Mears: UNC’s pace is taking its toll. Maye getting lots of mismatches just by beating the Duke bigs down the floor
Scott Miller: over/under is right back around pregame levels
Eli Hershkovich: How much do you guys think this affects Duke's futures?
Just the Zion injury and potential for a long-term absence.
Bryan Mears: Would imagine they’ll go down until we get word
Eli Hershkovich: Duke +14.5!
Updated odds to win the national title @CaesarsPalace:
Duke +250 (was +200)
Gonzaga +500 (was +700)
Virginia +700 (was +800)
Kentucky +700 (was +800)— Matt Lindeman (@lindetrain) February 21, 2019
First Half
UNC 42, Duke 32 | End of Half
Stuckey: This is a ridiculous over pace.
Zion hurt first play and 3-33 combined from 3. Still got to 74 in the 1H. Flying
Eli Hershkovich: Needed Brooks to miss that dunk. Would've been poor execution to perfection. Duke +1.5 at the break, total at 159.5.
UNC 32, Duke 24 | 3:33 remaining
Scott Miller: down to Duke PK -115
Eli Hershkovich: Duke 2/18 from deep
Scott Miller: looks like they've settled a little bit after the shock of losing zion
better defensively for sure
Travis Reed: I actually like UNC at a pick now but I think I'm the only one
Jack Settleman: I like them as well
Eli Hershkovich: They only shot 16 3s in their win over NC State on Saturday. Duke -1.5 now. Cam stepping it up.
Stuckey: Hey travis reed I’ll give you UNC PK and we can save the juice
Or jack settleman
Bryan Mears: I’m in on UNC getting points although it could be my heart talking
Scott Miller: now we're talkin
UNC 30, Duke 17 | 6:02 remaining
Scott Miller:zion out for the gm
Bryan Mears: What’s the line?
Eli Hershkovich: +2.5, total at 158.5.
UNC 20, Duke 9 | 11:56 remaining
Scott Miller: Stuckey, we're gonna see 3 soon, juiced up -2.5 poppin'
Eli Hershkovich: I've got -2.5, yup. Down to -1.5.
Stuckey: Hitting it
Lauren Joffe: Hope whoever spent $40gs to watch Zion is still alive
Scott Miller: was able to grab duke -1.5 (-120) with them down 20-9
Eli Hershkovich: How was that not a travel on Barrett? Refs must be prepping for him in the NBA.
Jack Settleman: I have PK -135 duke
Eli Hershkovich: Scott Miller, Snagged that as well.
UNC 10, Duke 6 | 14:58 remaining
Eli Hershkovich: Duke's had so many mental mistakes inside.
Travis Reed: It's going to be hard to live bet without knowing the status of Zion.
Eli Hershkovich: Good point. Duke currently at -6.5. UNC should keep going inside minus Zion.
Bryan Mears: Guy I'm watching the most for UNC: Cam Johnson. He's their most important player this year given his elite shooting. In UNC's wins he's hitting 53.0% of his 3s. In losses, he's at 24.0%.
He's been absolutely lights out on the road this year, hitting 60.7% of his 3s away from the Dean Dome, so if he's hot early, that's a good sign for UNC. If he's not getting touches, Duke is in business to cover.
Scott Miller: Duke down to -5.5 at the under 16. Agree it's tough to touch that without knowing what's going on w/ zion
Bryan Mears: Here’s a q: What’s this spread if Zion was ruled out this morning?
Evan Abrams: was also going to wonder impact of live total, even if zion is hurt and comes back (or is out obviously)?
Travis Reed: I know this is a big game for the viewers, but in the grand scheme of things this game means nothing. I wouldn't chance Zion at all.
Eli Hershkovich: I'm waiting to live bet this one till we hear more abou his status. UNC should retain control until there's more clarity. Minus Duke's best rim protector, there should be plenty of room inside.
Stuckey:I’d love to get Duke at -3 at some point
Eli Hershkovich: We saw Florida State have similar success when Zion left in that one.
Bryan Mears: Do we think Zion’s questionable status is built into the number? If not, upside on UNC.
Scott Miller: doesn't appear to be too baked into the number.
Before Tip-Off
Stuckey: If UNC gets off to a fast start and/or Duke comes out cold, I will be looking to bet the Blue Devils live at -6 or better early on. I can’t see UNC winning this game and expect to see a few patented Cameron runs tonight.
From a total perspective, I’ll be looking to get some live over early on if we see a slow start and anything under 160 pops over the first 10 minutes.
Eli Hershkovich: I'm looking for the same as Stuckey: Right around Duke -5.5, should UNC have success in transition early on. The Blue Devils' athleticism should overwhelm the Tar Heels as the game rolls along. Winning by double digits and covering the initial line will be a tough task in a rivalry game, but expect Duke to nab a comfortable single-digit home win.
