Saint Francis vs Florida College Basketball Betting Preview

Saint Francis Basketball

Saint Francis limped into the NCAA Tournament last season with a 13-17 regular-season record and an 8-8 conference record. The Red Flash won three straight in the NEC Tournament to make the First Four as a play-in 16-seed.

And by all intents and purposes, that’s the only way the Flash will be able to do it again. They have just two wins this season, and neither has come against a Division I opponent.

They rank near the bottom nationally in every significant defensive and offensive metric.

Outside of two games in which they lost by eight and 10, respectively, they’ve been blown out by at least 20 in their seven other losses.

Florida Basketball

Florida comes in as the newly-ranked 23rd team in the country. At 6-4, it might be easy to look past the Gators as a genuine contender, but three of their four losses have been against Quad 1 opponents.

The Gators play at an up-tempo pace, but their 3-point percentage has been a sore eye. Last season, they knocked down big-time shots from deep in pressure situations. This season, the long ball has failed them, with just a 26.8% success rate.

A matchup against Saint Francis might be the tonic this Gators team needs. Saint Francis is dead last when it comes to defending the long ball, allowing teams to hit at a 39.5% clip.

Florida can also dictate the pace, and I expect it to control that here. It ranks 44th in adjusted tempo and 75th in average possession length.

While they own a mediocre 6-4 record, it’s noteworthy that the Gators own the fifth-toughest strength of schedule and their four losses have been by a combined 14 points.

Saint Francis vs. Florida Betting Analysis

This spread sits at a gaudy 44.5 points. And no matter how bad Saint Francis has been, only one loss has been a 40+ point defeat — a 41-point loss to TCU. All the other games have been within the 40-point margin.

One thing Saint Francis has done well is play at a somewhat decent pace.

The total is sitting at 151.5, and with the Gators sure to push tempo, we can almost guarantee they’ll crack 95. If they do, we would need 57 points from the visitors.

The Red Flash have scored at least 57 points in every game this season, except for one. In all but two of their games, they’ve cracked the 60s.

I think we can get just enough offense out of Saint Francis for this game to go over.

My Pick: Over 151.5 (Play to 153)
