Washington vs Baylor College Basketball Betting Preview

Washington Basketball

Washington has looked good in its first two games, but those were against the 362nd-ranked Arkansas Pine Bluff and the 331st-ranked Denver (via KenPom).

They’ve scored a minimum of 84 points in each of their first two games, while giving up just 120 points. They are young, starting two freshmen and a sophomore. Bryson Tucker, the sophomore transfer from Indiana, has made an immediate impact, averaging 11.5 PPG.

But their biggest impact has come from Hannes Steinbeck. The German product has averaged 17 PPG and 32 minutes played per game.

The Huskies do a really good job at playing a controlled pace, ranked just 214th in adjusted tempo, but 62nd in average possession length. They take an average of just a tick over 15 seconds per offensive possession.

Baylor Basketball

Baylor has had just one game for us to look at, but while this team may not have “star power hype”, they are really athletic and long. They also rank 61st in overall D-1 experience.

Their biggest issue over the first game was their depth. They played just 22.5% of bench minutes.

That’s a trend we expect to continue, considering they played UT Rio Grande Valley and only won by 15 points. They allowed 81 points against the visiting Vaqueros.

They did score 96 points, but hardly due to efficiency. They played fast and put up a high shot volume, allowing them to score near the century mark.

This team is athletic, but their defense has some major holes. To compete
This season, expect them to play a hurried tempo. We also look for them to get to the free-throw line, where they’ll have success all season long.

Washington vs. Baylor Betting Analysis

These two teams have played teams that have hardly tested their rosters. This game might be a true measuring stick for the season. It will be hard to lay the points, expecting that Washington will come in shortly under double-digit favorites.

But we do like the offenses and the overall pace that this game will likely be played at. This should create many fast-break opportunities for both teams.

We also expect some free throws, as a chaotic pace will allow for chaotic sequences. Both teams shoot well enough to help tip this game over late, especially if they can get to the free-throw line.

We expect the over to fall around 153. And anything less than 155, we will take the over.

Pick: Over 153.5 (Play to 155)
