LSU vs Alabama College Football Betting Preview
LSU Tigers Betting Preview: Beginning a New Era
This’ll be the first game that the Tigers play since Brian Kelly and his "fam-uh-lee" left Baton Rouge.
And if there were ever a time to show Kelly the door, it was right before their bye. It’ll allow the team to get over the shock (or lack thereof) that Kelly was fired, and that Frank Wilson assumed the helm.
Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is an interesting case because he has all the talent in the world, but his ability to turn the ball over is rather scary after leading the SEC with 12 interceptions last season.
LSU’s leading receiver, Aaron Anderson, finally posted some solid numbers after a two-week stretch where he was limited to just three receptions for 30 yards.
Tight end Trey’Dez Green may just be one of the deadliest options through the air. He was only a major factor in the most recent games, and he quickly ascended to be Nussmeier’s top target.
In the past three games, Green hauled in 19 receptions for 247 yards.
I’ve always liked LSU’s defense, especially on the secondary, with studs in cornerbacks Mansoor Delane and PJ Woodland. A.J. Haulcy, Tamarcus Cooley and Dashawn Spears also have two interceptions each.

Alabama Crimson Tide Betting Preview: Rested and Ready
You’d be hard-pressed to find a team in college football hotter than the Crimson Tide.
After a much-needed bye from defeating four consecutive ranked opponents, Alabama is fresh and ready. But make no mistake, this is one of those “rat poison” games, as Nick Saban would call them.
I’ve been waving the Ty Simpson flag since last season ended. It’s almost unreal how everyone seemed to overlook him, as if he wasn’t a former five-star recruit who was nearly getting poached left and right from several programs to start for them.
So, allow me to take my victory lap, because he leads the SEC in Passer Efficiency Rating and adjusted yards gained per pass attempt. Not only that, but he has thrown 20 touchdowns and only one interception.
It doesn’t hurt to have the receiving help that he has, with Germie Bernard leading the charge and Ryan Williams always up for making a dynamic play or two.
But one of the players to look out for is Lotzeir Brooks, the true freshman who has become a major force in Alabama’s offense, averaging 15.6 yards per catch on 16 receptions.
On the other side of the ball, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack has gotten a quality grasp on this stop unit.
We’ve seen a guy like Yhonzae Pierre become a defensive superstar, generating several pressures per game. And from the looks of it, Deontae Lawson is starting to get his legs under him again.

LSU vs Alabama Pick, Betting Analysis
I keep teetering between what I want here. I feel like the spread can go either way, and so can the total.
Who’s to say that LSU won’t come out hot? The Tigers may be in Tuscaloosa, where it’s going to be rocking. But for teams that just fired their coach, there’s a chance that there’s a “new coach spark.”
This could easily be a trap game for the Crimson Tide, who just escaped South Carolina by the skin of their teeth two weeks ago.
Going on a bye after facing four straight ranked opponents is certainly helpful, but will they be rested enough?
There’s just something so unpredictable about this game, and I’d rather go a different route.
I mentioned Brooks before, and I think this is the game where he nabs his first career touchdown.
The Tigers have one of the best secondaries in the country with Delane and Woodland, and you can bet that both Bernard and Williams will be covered heavily — and possibly double-teamed at times.
Brooks quickly earned both Kalen DeBoer and Simpson’s trust, and if both Bernard and Williams are covered, that leaves Brooks and Isaiah Horton.
But with Horton being a big target and a veteran, I think it’ll leave Brooks in a lot of one-on-one situations.
Pick: Lotzeir Brooks Anytime Touchdown (+350)
