LSU opened as a 5.5-point favorite over Georgia in the 2019 SEC Championship Game at PointsBet and is now all the way up to -7.5, albeit with more juice (-120) on Georgia at +7.5.

Our power ratings make LSU a 7-point favorite.

The Tigers have been an underdog just once this season (at Alabama), and a single-digit favorite only one other time (at Texas). Georgia has not been an underdog all season.

LSU's Statistical Profile

  • Power Rating: 3
  • ATS Record: 7-5
  • Over/Under Record: 8-4
  • Off. Yards Per Play: 7.90 (2nd)
  • Def. Yards Per Play: 5.11 (28th)

What LSU Does Well: LSU rolled through the regular season behind a resurgent offense, led by new passing game coordinator Joe Brady (formerly of the Saints and Penn State) and quarterback Joe Burrow.

LSU finished second nationally in yards per play, and scored at least 36 points in all but one game.

Where LSU Needs Work: This isn't an LSU defense of old, which is a shame, because all those defenses were missing was a competent offense to turn the Tigers into a title contender.

LSU has been particularly susceptible to big plays, ranking middle of the pack in plays allowed over 20 yards.

Georgia's Statistical Profile

  • Power Rating: 4
  • ATS Record: 6-6
  • Over/Under Record: 3-9
  • Off. Yards Per Play: 6.29 (31st)
  • Def. Yards Per Play: 4.12 (3rd)

What Georgia Does Well: This Dawgs defense doesn't get the notoriety of the 2017 team that went to the national title game, but it's legit. Georgia ranks No. 5 in yards per play allowed and No. 3 in yards per carry allowed.

Georgia has only given up 20 points in one game, that dreadful 20-17 loss to South Carolina, and has held five opponents to single-digit points.

Where Georgia Needs Work: Where do you even begin with this offense? Just two years ago, it felt like Jake Fromm was on the cusp of SEC greatness after helping lead the Dawgs to the national title game as a true freshman.

But since, it's been ugly. Fromm ranks 60th in yards per pass attempt and the Georgia coaching staff just doesn't want to turn him loose.
