DraftKings is preparing to enter the growing market for Alberta online casinos and Alberta sports betting, with an official launch date set for July 13. The company confirmed it will roll out its popular DraftKings Sportsbook, DraftKings Casino, and Golden Nugget Online Gaming platforms across the Canadian province.
Online sports betting and casino games (slots, table games, live dealer, etc.) will be available starting Monday from multiple private operators.
With this move, Alberta becomes the second Canadian province to offer DraftKings services, following Ontario. It also marks the company’s 34th active jurisdiction across North America, showing continued expansion in regulated gaming markets.
The news comes in the wake of the company's announcement that DraftKings Predictions is driving major growth, which is why the new DKeX (DraftKings Exchange) was launched.
Alberta Sports Betting Market Expands
The launch brings a wide range of features to Alberta sports betting fans. Users will have access to:
- Same-game parlays for customized betting combinations
- Live, in-game wagering on major sporting events
- Odds boosts and special promotions tied to key matchups
DraftKings is timing its entry to align with one of the biggest global sports events, the FIFA World Cup. The company is also hosting a World Cup watch party in Calgary on July 11 at the Wildhorse Saloon. This event follows similar fan experiences held in major U.S. cities like Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, and Hoboken.
Greg Karamitis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sports at DraftKings, said Alberta’s strong sports culture makes it a natural fit for expansion.
Alberta Online Casinos Get New Options
Along with sports betting, the launch significantly boosts the Alberta online casinos market. Players will be able to access thousands of casino games across DraftKings Casino and Golden Nugget Online Gaming.
Key offerings include:

- Exclusive games only available on DraftKings platforms

This expansion means both DraftKings Casino and Golden Nugget Online Gaming will now operate in Alberta and Ontario, while maintaining their presence in several U.S. states.

To mark its Alberta launch, DraftKings is also investing in the local community. The company will donate $150,000 to Food Banks Alberta, helping provide more than 40,000 pounds of food to families in need. The donation will support essential items such as fresh produce and baby formula.
DraftKings also emphasized its focus on responsible gaming. The platform includes tools designed to help users manage their activity, including:
