Both teams enter at 3-2, with defense carrying much of the weight on each side.
Seattle ranks near the top of the league in defensive efficiency, while the offense has been much less consistent. The Seahawks have struggled to establish the run, Sam Darnold has been under pressure and turnovers hurt them badly in their loss to San Francisco.
Denver has faced similar offensive problems. Bo Nix has struggled to push the ball efficiently downfield, leaving the Broncos defense to control field position and keep games manageable.
That defense generated five sacks against Justin Herbert last week, which creates another difficult matchup for a Seattle offensive line that has had trouble protecting Darnold.
The status of Denver's secondary is important, though. Pat Surtain II and Riley Moss both carry injury concerns into the short week, so check the latest NFL injury report before kickoff.
Both offenses have also had trouble staying on the field on third down, which increases the chances of another possession-driven, lower-scoring game.

The total has already moved down from its opening number, but I still prefer the Under at 40.5.
Seattle's defense is the best unit in this matchup, and Denver has struggled to consistently generate explosive plays. If the Broncos cannot stay ahead of the chains, Nix could spend much of the night facing obvious passing situations against a Seattle defense built to get off the field.
The matchup is not especially comfortable for Seattle's offense, either. Darnold has taken eight sacks across his last two games, while the Seahawks have struggled to establish a consistent running game.
Weather could add another variable. If rain or stronger winds remain in the Denver forecast Thursday night, passing and kicking conditions become another reason to favor a lower total. The latest NFL weather conditions will be worth checking closer to kickoff.
