While it was a relatively quiet week for Fanatics Sportsbook’s Fair Play, the platform still passed along significant value to its users. According to the latest metrics, the program saw 20 total Fair Play exits last week, resulting in over $180,000 paid out to bettors.
For those unfamiliar, Fanatics Fair Play states that if a player exits a game in the first or second quarter due to injury and is ruled out for the remainder of the game, all straight prop bets on that player are refunded. Parlays are also protected, with the injured player’s bet removed entirely.
Last week, over 20,000 wagers qualified for this protection. Let’s look into the highlights of the week’s metrics.
Fanatics Fair Play Weekly Metrics
- 20 Total Fair Play Exits
- Over $180,000 were paid out to users
- 20,000 Wagers Qualified for Fair Play
- Highest Cost Exit was Ayo Dosunmu on May 6 ($101K)
The standout event of the week came during the NBA Playoffs, specifically involving Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ayo Dosunmu.
The most expensive event for Fanatics last week involved users who bet on the guard.
Dosunmu had previously been dealing with heel pain and attempted to play it out, which in turn allowed him to be removed from the Timberwolves' injury report for Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs.
However, just before tipoff, Dosunmu was ruled OUT, and placed bettors in a precarious position.
For those who had wagered on Dosunmu, Fanatics had taken care of its users.
This single exit cost the sportsbook $101,000, accounting for more than half of the total weekly payout. It serves as a stark reminder of how much liability Fanatics assumes to ensure its users don't get burned by pregame or midgame injuries.
Despite the quieter volume compared to the record-breaking $2.8 million payout in April, the consistency of the program remains a major differentiator.
By covering 20 different exits across the sports world last week, Fanatics continues to prove that "Fair Play" is more than just a tagline; it’s a six-figure reality for the betting community.
