How Bills' Week 4 Loss Impacts NFL Survivor Week 5 Picks

Week 4 delivered the exact kind of gut check survivor players will keep in mind when making NFL survivor Week 5 picks. Buffalo walked into Sunday as a touchdown favorite over New England, the type of number that normally gets treated as an easy advance.

Instead, Drake Maye and the Patriots clawed back and escaped with a 29-26 win, torching anyone who parked their Bills pick there.

Baltimore survived its own scare, holding off Tennessee 24-18 but losing Lamar Jackson to an ankle injury along the way. Minnesota needed a low-scoring grind to slip past winless Miami, 15-10.

Those results hammer home a point every survivor veteran already knows. A big spread buys you odds, not certainty. Health, matchup quirks, and plain bad luck still decide games.

NFL survivor Week 5 picks come with a couple of big betting favorites at the top of the board. This gives you a cleaner starting point going into making NFL survivor pool Week 5 picks than last week offered.

My Favorite NFL Survivor Week 5 Picks

1. Jacksonville Jaguars (-7.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (-7.5)

Jacksonville is my top call this week amongst all potential NFL survivor Week 5 picks. Jaguars vs. Eagles kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET from London on NFL Network.

The Jaguars already own a résumé win over an AFC contender this season, and Trevor Lawrence has been efficient and mistake-free through four games.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, is coming off a rough stretch and now travels across the Atlantic as a full touchdown-plus underdog. A road trip to London adds another layer of difficulty for a team already searching for rhythm.

There's a case for saving Jacksonville for a softer slate later, but a 7.5-point number against a shaky opponent is too good to pass on this early in the season.

2. Cincinnati Bengals (-7.5) vs. Miami Dolphins

Cincinnati gives you the strongest pivot if Jacksonville is already used. Catch Dolphins vs. Bengals at 1 p.m. ET on FOX from Cincinnati.

Miami is still hunting for its first win and is still without their best player in running back De'Von Achane, who tore his ACL a couple of weeks ago. The Bengals get this one at home against a Dolphins offense that has struggled to generate points all year.

Cincinnati doesn't carry quite the same margin for error as Jacksonville, but a 7.5-point home favorite against a winless team is one of the safer structural plays on the board.

Cincinnati is my No. 2 option of all NFL survivor Week 5 picks.

3. Houston Texans (-7.5) vs. Tennessee Titans

Houston rounds out my group of NFL survivor Week 5 picks, sitting just behind the top two mostly on game-script risk. Texans vs. Titans also kicks at 1 p.m. ET, and FOX caries the broadcast for this one.

The Texans match the same 7.5-point number against a Titans team that remains one of the league's weakest rosters.

Houston's defense has had its late-game lapses this season, but Tennessee simply doesn't have the offensive firepower to make that liability matter over four quarters.

The main reason to hold off is saving Houston for a week when it's the clear best option left in your pool. Use the Texans if both Jacksonville and Cincinnati are already off the board in your entry.

Finalizing Your NFL Week 5 Survivor Picks Now

Jacksonville, Cincinnati, and Houston leads the way among my favorite NFL survivor Week 5 picks. Steer clear of the pack in the middle of the board for survivor purposes this week.

Several matchups, including Giants-Commanders and Broncos-Chargers, sit inside a field goal, and that's exactly the territory that bit Buffalo backers last Sunday.

Whichever team earns your pick, claim the NFL betting promos in this piece, stack the Kalshi and Polymarket prices against the live spread, and scan the final injury reports one more time before you turn in your NFL survivor Week 5 picks.
