As soon as the clock hit zero in the NFC Championship game between the Rams and Seahawks, sportsbooks wasted no time getting up anytime touchdown betting markets for the Super Bowl. In turn, I wasted no time in getting my first anytime TD bet for the Seahawks vs Patriots Super Bowl rematch.
I'm betting on a player I backed often throughout this season: Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
Find out why he's my first Super Bowl TD pick below.
Seahawks vs Patriots Props: Anytime Touchdown Scorers
For my first anytime touchdown bet of Super Bowl 60, I'm targeting Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who scored on a designed run inside the 5-yard line against the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.
Maye has been busy on the ground in the playoffs, with 24 carries over New England's three games. Notably, he has the same amount of rush attempts as RB2 TreVeyon Henderson.
Maye led NFL QBs in total scrambles during the regular season and was second in scrambles per game (behind Patrick Mahomes). Maye should be busy against a Seahawks defense that ranked in the top six in pressure rate but bottom five in blitz rate — 75% of Maye's scrambles this season came when he wasn't blitzed; over 55% occurred when he faced pressure.
If the Patriots struggle with their passing game, which very well could happen considering the Seahawks were first defensive pass DVOA, Maye will have to call his own number again.
I think this TD bet is nearly gamescript proof — the Seahawks are 4.5-point favorites on the spread and have a strong defense so it's hard to envision a scenario where the Patriots are up big.
I love this bet at +350 or better.
