Seahawks vs Cardinals NFL Week 2 Preview
The Seahawks will start Drew Lock in place of the injured Sam Darnold in this NFC West tilt, and honestly, I think Lock is going to be completely fine.
Outside of one shaky throw at the end of the first half against the Patriots, Lock looked sharp and on-point in the second half. Notably, he connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 45-yard touchdown to tie the game in the fourth quarter.
Now Lock gets a full week of practice with the starters to fully integrate into the game plan.
The real advantage for Seattle, however, is on the defensive side of the ball.
Mike Macdonald’s defensive scheme is special, and he boasts an elite 13-4-1 against the spread (ATS) record as a coach. He knows exactly how to dial up pressure packages that force opposing quarterbacks into making mistakes.
The Cardinals might possess a sneaky, underrated home-field advantage in the desert, but this is a classic letdown spot.
The Cardinals survived a lifeless and overrated Chargers team in Week 1, but they didn't even play particularly well in the process.
Jacoby Brissett gives them a decent floor of competency on offense, but he has a hard ceiling, and their defense was leaving receivers wide open all afternoon.
Against an elite defensive mind like Macdonald, Brissett is going to be consistently schemed into bad decisions.
Seahawks vs Cardinals Prediction, Betting Analysis
I am laying the points with the Seahawks -3.5. This number is just too short for an elite defense facing a limited quarterback like Brissett.
Macdonald’s defense has a track record of generating strip sacks and defensive touchdowns out of thin air, and they will likely feast on Brissett if the Cardinals find themselves playing from behind.
Give me Seattle to cover the short spread on the road.
Pick: Seahawks -3.5 (-120)
