Headlining the La Liga slate this weekend, league leaders Barcelona travel to the capital to take on Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium.
The visitors can move three points clear of rivals Real Madrid at the top of the table with a victory.
Meanwhile, Atlético find themselves in a battle for Champions League qualification, coming into the match in fourth with 27 points.
The Wanda is always a difficult place to pick up a result as an away side, but I do feel this has all the ingredients for a very entertaining fixture.
Atletico Madrid Dealing With Lineup Questions
The big question surrounding Madrid in this match is the status of attacker João Félix, who is rumored to be a potential transfer target for multiple Premier League clubs.
He was on the scoresheet in the recent victory against Elche, which suggests he should be available here. The Portuguese playmaker netted his fourth goal in La Liga this season to go along with his three assists.
His absence would be a huge loss for the home side, who has not been as strong defensively as teams in years past under manager Diego Simeone.
Atlético entered the weekend around mid-table in both xG allowed per 90 minutes (1.10) and big scoring chances surrendered per match (1.8), according to fbref.com.
Barcelona Missing Key Players
While we do not know the status of Félix, we do know that Barcelona will be without two key players for this trip, as both Robert Lewandowski and Jordi Alba are suspended.
The Polish striker is a massive loss for the Catalan club as he leads La Liga with 13 goals to go with his four assists.
I would expect either Memphis Depay or Ferran Torres to take his place, but it will be very difficult to replicate the same success.
Defensively, Xavi did receive a boost with Ronald Araújo back and fit, and we should see Marcos Alonso fill in for the missing Alba at left back.
Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona Pick
Barcelona are listed as the road favorite at +130 odds on the moneyline to go with a total of 2.5 goals.
I do see this being a match with the potential of having multiple big scoring chances, but my favorite play is in the props market.
My best bet is for Antoine Griezmann to score or assist at +155.
On the season, the French playmaker has five goals and an equal amount of assists, but it is his recent form that really makes this a standout play.
In the last eight La Liga matches, this same bet would have cashed in six games, which also doesn’t include the assist he dished out in the midweek Copa Del Rey win.
He is central to everything Atlético is doing at the moment, and I also feel he will definitely love to get one over on his former team.
Barcelona do have strong defensive numbers, but Xavi’s men did allow three to Real Madrid away from home. They also just gave up a trio of goals to Intercity in the cup match this week, a team that is in the third division.
