Atlético Madrid vs. Liverpool

In a battle of Champions League mainstays, Liverpool will travel back to the location of its sixth European title to take on Atlético Madrid.

Many know Atlético Madrid for its strong defensive setup under manager Diego Simeone, which has continued to be the case this season. The Spanish side has conceded just six goals in 10 competitive games thus far, and in each contest it has given up a goal, the opposition's expected goals were smaller than its actual scoring output.

Liverpool's blazing hot offensive pace only serves as a boost in the odds of Atlético Madrid putting on an important defensive display. Prior to the duo's (just) pre-COVID-19 Champions League meetings in 2020, the Reds had won their Premier League games, but scored just one goal in 180 minutes of regulation play against Atlético Madrid.

Simeone will almost certainly come into the key fixture with a conservative game plan in mind, as a point would be huge for his team. And with a stringent back line that has excelled all season, fading Liverpool's attack is a wise move.

PSG vs. RB Leipzig

The PickHerrera (PSG) — Record Shot on Target (+210)

The Parisians will have to play its third Champions League game without Neymar, but that won't leave the them without attacking firepower. Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi are set to feature against a side that has conceded at least two goals in six consecutive UCL fixtures.

As the PSG attack will be without one of its big three members, Mbappé and Messi will have a chance to break out. The former has only scored five goals in 13 competitive matches, while the latter has one goal in five appearances. However, at -130 and -115 odds respectively, you don't get much value on the superstars as anytime goal scorers.

Instead, look to a man not known for his attacking prowess for value. Ander Herrera has a whopping four goals in 12 appearances, as he continues to thrive out of the PSG midfield, and the Spaniard is averaging a shot per game in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League play. Despite this, Herrera is priced at or lower than his midfield counterparts to record a shot on target at +210 odds.

Simply playing the percentages in this instance gives you a great opportunity to cash on the wager.

Inter Milan vs. Sheriff Tiraspol

The PickInter Milan — Record Clean Sheet (-120)

Everyone's favorite UCL story is back this week to take on Inter Milan. Unfortunately, the incredible Cinderella story that is Sheriff Tiraspol is going to struggle to keep it going.

Sheriff has amassed six points in its first two games, but those points are a factor of grit and incredible luck. The Moldovan squad has posted an xG of 1.0 thru its first two contests, but has scored four goals. Even more noteworthy, Sheriff has conceded just one goal despite yielding 4.2 xGA so far.

Inter Milan has given up just 2.3 xGA and conceded a lone goal in its opening matches. Despite Inter's defensive struggles at times in the Italian top flight, the team is well poised to have its way with Sheriff and limit its foe's scoring opportunities.

If Sheriff is capable of breaking its xG expectations once again, so be it, but getting on Inter to pitch a shutout presents an opportunity in a far different — but equally valuable — manner than Atlético Madrid vs. Liverpool.
