Group A concludes the first day of six World Cup games on the same day.
Mexico has clinched first in the group, but the other three teams are all eligible to finish anywhere from second to last in the group.
Below that, I'll find some futures bets based on my World Cup simulations.
Let's dive into the World Cup Group A advancement scenarios and top World Cup futures.
World Cup Group A
World Cup Group A Advancement Scenarios
- Mexico: Have clinched first place in the group.
- South Korea: A win or draw guarantees advancement. A loss still likely has them through at 60%, according to my Third Place Dashboard.
- Czech Republic: A draw can technically get them through, but there's only a 9% chance of that happening, according to the dashboard. Instead, a win puts Czechia on four points and all but guarantees advancement. A loss means they're eliminated.
- South Africa: Must win to get to four points, which would advance them with over 99% probability.
World Cup Group A Futures
Mexico will get two home games, which should help them stand a strong chance of reaching the quarterfinals. Then they'd have a game in Miami, which would still be a pro-Mexican crowd, but it wouldn't give them the Azteca altitude advantage.
My model has Mexico getting eliminated here 20.1% of the time, but we're getting +550 at FanDuel for a fantastic 4.7% edge.
Pick: Mexico Stage of Elimination — Quarterfinals (+550 at FanDuel)
