Anisimova vs Pavlyuchenkova Preview, Prediction
Amanda Anisimova Betting Preview
Amanda Anisimova has been one of the many inspiring stories from this Wimbledon tournament.
Last year, she failed to enter the main draw after losing her last qualifying match. Now, she is one step away from reaching a semifinal, which she has only achieved in a Grand Slam once before (2019 Roland Garros).
This run matches her best career showing in London after also playing in the quarterfinals in 2022. Her comeback in 2024, after briefly retiring from tennis due to burnout and mental health concerns, has been remarkable. She had to climb the rankings from the bottom and now sits at 12th in the WTA Tour.
Anisimova started Wimbledon with a bang, winning by a double donut (6-0, 6-0) in the first round. In her last two matches, she had to go to three sets.
She has probably benefited the most from the draw and one major upset: the elimination of World No. 4 Jasmine Paolini, who could have been her rival today.
Anisimova's backhand is her trademark shot — she uses it to complement her power baseline game. She is also a great returner, and her serve has looked solid, which is encouraging since it is usually the weakest aspect of her game.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Betting Preview
At 34 years old, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova tends to have experience on her side in these circumstances. Still, even though Anisimova is only 23, she has been around Grand Slams from a very early age.
Therefore, Pavluychenkova remains the underdog.
That did not deter her from sending home every other rival who was also the favorite against her in the previous three rounds: Ashlyn Krueger (31st seed), Naomi Osaka and the British surprise, Sonay Kartal.
Pavlyuchenkova is enjoying a good run on grass courts. Before Wimbledon, she reached the semifinals at the Lexus Eastbourne Open.
She has played aggressively through each round, and it has paid off. Against the American, though, she will need to cut down on her unforced errors (47 in her last match) if she wants to offer the next big upset this week.
Anisimova vs Pavlyuchenkova Predictions, Betting Analysis
Anisimova has won the three previous encounters, all of which have been on hard courts.
The American beat Pavlyuchenkova at Indian Wells in 2018 in two sets, again in straight sets at the 2024 Auckland Open, and later that year in Washington in three sets.
Whoever advances will face the winner of the Aryna Sabalenka-Laura Siegemund match in the semifinals.
This seems to be the end of the road for Pavlyuchenkova, but not without putting up a fight.
Pick: Over 21.5 (-125, BetMGM)
