Swiatek vs Samsonova Preview, Prediction
Iga Swiatek Betting Preview
As scary as it may sound to other players, Iga Swiatek has been getting better and better as the tournament progresses.
Now with the chance of reaching the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time in her already illustrious career, Swiatek will waste no opportunity to put this match away.
Swiatek has only endured two tough sets thus far, against Polina Kudermetova in the first round (a 7-5 first set that she won), and Caty McNally in the second round (a 7-5 set won by the American).
Swiatek hasn't flinched since, eliminating Daniele Collins Clara Tauson in straight-set wins.
As the eighth seed, things could have been much more complicated for her. On a path where she could have faced Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina or Daria Kasatkina, the constant surprises of this tournament left her as the best-ranked player in the bottom part of the draw.
Swiatek should try to avoid another surprise herself and stay as hungry as she seemed against Tauson, winning 11-of-12 points at the net and 92% of her first-serve points.
Liudmila Samsonova Betting Preview
If we're talking about improvement, look no further than Liudmila Samsonova.
She had a fantastic performance in Berlin, where she beat Naomi Osaka, Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova in consecutive rounds to reach the semifinals.
In London, she continues to impress. Samsonova won her first three matches in straight sets, never losing more than three games on a set, and that included a victory against Kasatkina.
In the round of 16, Samsonova won 7-5 and 7-5 against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. The Russian still has to lose a set at Wimbledon.
Samsonova excels in her service game and is also a strong returner. She plays rallies aggressively, like Swiatek, looking for winners.
In her four matches so far, Samsonova has had 20 or more winners in each match.
This is her first time in a Grand Slam quarterfinal, and she will aim to add another shock result to an already unpredictable 2025 Wimbledon.
Swiatek vs Samsonova Predictions, Betting Analysis
Swiatek might have her biggest challenge yet, but considering everything else that has happened in this tournament so far, she has a real shot at adding Wimbledon to her Grand Slam resume.
Wimbledon's official site lists her probability to win at 79% (although Jannik Sinner was at 84% against Grigor Dimitrov, and look at what almost happened). However, if Swiatek is capable of limiting the damage Samsonova can do with her service, the rallies should go her way more often than not.
Samsonova's momentum is remarkable, but Swiatek knows her and has already won at Samsonova's preferred surface: hard courts.
Swiatek leads 4-0 in the head-to-head, with three straight-set victories on hard courts between 2023 and 2024 and another one on clay in 2022, which was — funnily enough — the toughest one, going onto a third set.
Swiatek should confirm her dominance in this match and enter the semifinals for the first time in London.
Pick: Swiatek -3.5 (-135, DraftKings)
