No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula takes on No. 7 seed Iga Swiatek in the semifinals of the WTA Cincinnati Open on Saturday.

Swiatek is on an absolute roll right now, as she's coming off a title in Toronto and is now well rested after her quarterfinal opponent — Elena Rybakina — retired in the first set of their match. Meanwhile, Pegula is coming off a grueling three-set duel against fellow American Amanda Anisimova.

Pegula vs Swiatek Cincinnati Betting Preview

By: Tudor Cosma

Jessica Pegula Preview

Pegula, a 32-year-old American who's ranked third in the WTA, is in the best position of her career. She hasn't won a Grand Slam and hasn't reached No. 1 in the world, but even so, she's undoubtedly one of the most consistent players in women's tennis.

Pegula very rarely loses in opening rounds and is rarely defeated as a favorite. She has four consecutive years in the top 10, and this season will end with the same result.

In two weeks, at the US Open, Pegula will have her best chance to win a Grand Slam.

She has many strengths to her game, but the biggest is her mental toughness, which is due to her background. Pegula comes from a rich American family that owns sports teams such as the Buffalo Bills.

Growing up with this winning mentality has helped her form a strong character. She didn't want to live on family money and didn't choose an easy path, so, instead, she decided to make a name for herself in a difficult sport.

Back to her game, it's very complete, as she limits unforced errors and is difficult to overcome in long rallies from the baseline. As of recent, she's also improved her serve.

Overall, this season has been solid for Pegula. She reached the semifinals at the Australian Open, earned trophies at Dubai and Charleston and earned a quarterfinal berth at Wimbledon.

During this United States hard court swing, Pegula lost in the final in Washington to Alexandra Eala and in Toronto, she lost in the fourth round to Diana Shnaider.

She hasn't really impressed in Cincinnati, as she had a very hard time getting past Sorana Cirstea and Anisimova.

Those negative signals may not be a good sign for Saturday, especially when facing a fresh, red-hot opponent like Swiatek.

Iga Swiatek Preview

Swiatek, a 25-year-old Polish player who's ranked fifth in the WTA, is one of the great champions in women's tennis history (six total Grand Slam titles).

For a long time, she dominated the circuit as world No. 1, but there was a strong decline in form about three years ago.

Her results became inconsistent, and she began to play poorly even on clay, where she was nearly unbeatable for years.

While the decline hasn't been rapid (she's still fifth in the world), there are many reasons for the inconsistencies. Swiatek can be a very fragile and occasionally shows a lack of self-confidence.

There were many things that impacted her, from the very short suspension for doping, to changing coaches. The collaboration with Wim Fissette turned out to be a failure despite the trophy at Wimbledon.

She became the holder of Grand Slam titles on all three surfaces, having previously won four trophies at Roland Garros.

Now that she's changed coaches again, it seems that we're seeing vintage Swiatek, the one who impressed us with her amazing baseline game. It's clear that Francisco Roig has helped stabilize her, both with her game and mentally.

Another Grand Slam title is likely right around the corner, potentially even in New York in a couple of weeks.

Like her opponent, Swiatek has a complete game, as she's very aggressive from the baseline and is always on the attack. She has a good serve, and on return, she breaks with great ease.

The 2026 season has been mostly weak for Swiatek. She didn't reach a final until winning the 1000 tournament last week in Toronto. She played excellently there, and that trophy has carried over into her confidence here in Cincinnati.

She lost the first set against Maria Sakkari, but she dominated the next two. Rybakina injured her foot in their quarterfinal match on Thursday, but it looks like Swiatek was well on her way to dominating that match anyways (up 4-1).

The difference now is that Swiatek is more rested compared to Pegula.

Pegula vs Swiatek Predictions, Betting Analysis

Even though Swiatek is -260 on the moneyline with a 4.5-game spread, Pegula, obviously, shouldn't be underestimated. She's very consistent and confident, and she's beaten Swiatek five times in her career.

However, Pegula seems to be in relatively modest form. In Toronto, she easily lost to Shnaider, and in Cincinnati, she struggled a lot with Cirstea and Anisimova, each time prevailing in three sets.

In both Cincinnati matches, her serve wasn't up to the usual standards that we've seen from her as of late.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the net, Swiatek is going through her best stretch of the season. She won the title in Toronto, and has had limited problems in Cincinnati. With Rybakina retiring in the first set of their quarterfinal match, Swiatek is now well rested.

I expect Swiatek to win, but since there's limited value taking her at -260, use this as a parlay piece, possibly with a match on the men's side.

Pick: Iga Swiatek ML -260 (Parlay Piece)
