Taylor Fritz vs Karen Khachanov Preview, Prediction

Taylor Fritz Betting Preview

Taylor Fritz has stumbled his way into the Wimbledon quarterfinals in more than one way.

The American arrived at the All England Club in fine shape, having won Stuttgart and Eastbourne on his way to the third Grand Slam of the season. But once he set foot in London, it was anything but smooth sailing.

He survived going two sets down against France's Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round, then he was pushed to a fifth set by Canadian Gabriel Diallo in the second. Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina gave him a solid battle.

Still, Fritz finally caught a break as Australian Jordan Thompson was forced to retire from their fourth-round matchup with back and leg issues.

The American's biggest weapon throughout this up-and-down tournament has been his serve. Fritz has won 82% of the points he's played with his first serve, hitting an impressive 79 aces thus far, enough for second overall in the tournament.

Karen Khachanov Betting Preview

Khachanov is another player who arrived at Wimbledon in fine form, backing up quarters in 's-Hertogenbosch with a semifinals in Halle.

Yet, much like Fritz, Khachanov was pushed to a couple of five-setters, namely against Shintaro Mochizuki in the second round and then Nuno Borges in the third.

Still, Khachanov pushed past those results with relative ease. He took advantage of the wide-open draw — thanks to the defeats of world No. 3 Alexander Zverev and No. 16 Francisco Cerúndolo — to tie up his best Wimbledon result. In fact, it's the Russian's best result at a Grand Slam since reaching the 2023 French Open quarterfinals.

One of the most consistent players on tour, Khachanov's solid baseline approach is known to push more skilled players over the edge, but he'll have to add something if he's to keep progressing.

Fritz vs Khachanov Predictions, Betting Analysis

Given the absolute blood bath that this Wimbledon has been, the matchup between these two provides plenty of angles and possibilities. Yes, Khachanov is ahead in the head-to-head tally, but none of those matches were played on grass. In fact, they haven't played since 2020, when they met up in the ATP Cup at Brisbane. Even then, it was a close affair.

The fact that both reach the quarters on solid grass records and with quite similar amounts of time on court, makes it as even as possible. Still, I think Fritz is too good a player for Khachanov, particularly on grass. The Muscovite is bound to put the American in trouble, but ultimately, I think the world number five will power through.

Pick: Fritz Moneyline, Over 40.5 Games (+142; DraftKings)
