I played under 4.5 assists in Satou Sabally's first game with the Mercury, and it hit, as she finished with one assist. I'm going back to the well here.
Sabally averaged five assists per game last season with Dallas and 4.4 assists per game the season prior, so I get why this is at 4.5.
At the same time, she's in a different situation now with the Mercury, and I expect the offense to run through Alyssa Thomas, who dished out six assists last game.
Los Angeles Sparks vs Phoenix Mercury Prediction, Picks
Sabally played a lot off the ball and in screen-and-roll situations with Thomas against Seattle in their last game, and Sabally ended up taking a team-high 17 shots.
With Kahleah Copper out, Phoenix is looking to replace her 21 points per game. It's possible Sabally is tasked to help shoulder that offensive void, while Thomas and Sami Whitcomb play more distributor roles.
RotoGrinders' projections have Sabally at four assists, and I agree with that projection.
