Just because DraftKings and FanDuel aren't available in your state, doesn't mean you can't find ways to get action down on the English Premier League.
Sweepstakes platforms are the hot new trend in U.S. sports betting. It's been a thing in online casinos for a while, but more and more sportsbook platforms have begun transitioning to this model in the last few months, mainly because they're able to operate in so many more states, including many without regulated sports betting.
There are several sweepstakes sportsbooks in the U.S., including:
- Fliff (the biggest player in the space, available in 30+ states)
- Rebet (available in 47 states)
- Thrillzz Sportsbook (30+ states)
How the Sweepstakes Model Works
There are two types of currencies on these platforms. You "buy" a free currency that's worth nothing and just used for fun, and you're "gifted" the actual currency that you use to bet real money.
- Free to play: At Thrillzz, these are called "coins" and they come in big increments. For $7, you can get 24,000 coins. But again, these have no value and they're just used to bet for fun.
- Paid currency: Thrillzz has a purple logo called "sweeps" that you use to make your wagers. When you buy coins, you're "gifted" these sweeps. If you win, those turn into tickets, which are equal to cash.
- Winning currency: At Thrillzz, they're called "tickets." You can swap tickets 1-1 for cash, so if you have $100 worth of tickets, that's $100 worth of cash.
At Thrillzz, you can spend $7 to get 20 sweeps. That's effectively $20.
What Kind of EPL Bets Are Available?
These platforms will look like sportsbooks, but because they're newer and have fewer resources, you won't see the same betting menu you would at DraftKings or FanDuel.
Fliff has the most options of any of these platforms, and also has same game parlays.
For the EPL, the options are a bit more limited. Some platforms just have game lines, totals and a handful of game props. Some have anytime goalscorers.
At Fliff for instance, they have much more available for American sports like MLB than they do for the English Premier League.
At Thrillzz, you can see the main options here — moneyline, draw no bet, total goals.
DFS Is Also an Option for EPL
If you'd rather just focus on player statistics and not teams, DFS might be a better option for you. Sites like Underdog and PrizePicks offer entries for
With these types of sites, you're picking a number of player statistics and choosing whether or not there will be more or less than the posted number. The more players you add, the bigger your payout.
Here, I've taken Joshua Zirkzee lower than 2.5 shots, Andre Onana higher than 2.5 saves, and Leif Davis over 29.5 passes. If they all win, I'll get a 5.7x payout — including my stake, so it's really more like 4.7x.
