Marlins vs Athletics MLB Betting Preview
Leg 1: Marlins F5 ML
Sandy Alcantara will toe the rubber for Miami, while the A’s will start Aaron Civale.
Between these two starting pitchers and the run-scoring environment at Sutter Health Park, I expect plenty of offense in this 4th of July matchup.
However, I still think Alcantara can find success in Sacramento in this interleague showdown, mostly because he’s found his form.
Although he allowed five earned runs in his most recent start at Coors Field, Alcantara spun five consecutive quality starts prior.
Meanwhile, Civale has been a mess, running a 5.05 ERA and 1.58 WHIP this season.
I think the Fish jump out to an early lead on the 4th of July behind a massive starting pitching advantage.
Leg 2: Nick Kurtz Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
If you have read any of my previous SGP segments for Action Network, you know that I typically favor pairing two negatively correlated betting angles given that the inverse relationship between the two results in a magnification of the SGP’s price tag.
Therefore, I’ll pair the Marlins F5 ML with a Nick Kurtz player prop.
Sandy has been good this season, but Kurtz has been better. He’s arguably the hottest hitter in baseball — he leads the league in RBIs.
Kurtz is very patient at the plate, and he thrives against fastballs — Sandy throws three (four-seam, cutter, sinker), making this a great matchup for the young superstar first baseman.
SGP Picks:
- Marlins F5 ML (-128)
- Nick Kurtz Over 1.5 HRR (-240)
