There were just three total runs scored in Game 1 of the NLCS, and another low-scoring affair is likely in Game 2 as right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Yamamoto has been dominant since entering the league in 2024, and this season was his best yet.
Through 28 starts, the right-hander went 14-9 with a 2.53 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP. His underlying metrics were equally impressive.
Yamamoto finished the season in the 90th percentile in xERA, 83rd percentile in xBA, 90th percentile in walk rate and 71st percentile in hard-hit rate. This success has continued into the postseason.
