Story: Back the Guardians to Come Out Hot on Tuesday Night

The Guardians will host the Giants on Tuesday evening in the first of a three-game homestand at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

Former-Nationals 31-year-old lefty Foster Griffin will make the start for the Guardians, while fellow left-hander Carson Whisenhunt is expected to take the mound for San Francisco.

Below, I will break down Tuesday night’s interleague clash and further provide a “same-game-parlay” (SGP) betting angle that you can take when wagering on this contest.

Guardians F5 ML

For the first leg in Tuesday’s SGP, I favor backing the Guardians on their first-five (F5) moneyline in a spot Cleveland holds a significant edge on the mound.

Despite Griffin having been on an absolute tear for a struggling Nationals’ rotation before the All-Star break, Washington elected to move the 31-year-old to the Guardians in a move that surprised many given how impressive the lefty veteran had been on the mound throughout the first half of his 2026 campaign.

Though Foster got off to quite a rocky start to his first outing in the American League, with Cleveland’s left-hander having surrendered five earned runs (ER) across just four frames on the mound, the former National bounced back in a big way in his second start versus Detroit.

The Guardians’ vet is posting career-bests across the board, with the 31-year-old having recorded a 3.25 ERA along with an efficient 1.11 WHIP – both of which rank inside the top-20 amongst starting pitchers in 2026.

Griffin has also posted a stellar 12-4 overall record on the mound, and ranks inside the top-30 in all of baseball with 125 punch-outs on the season thus far.

Unlike his Tuesday counterpart, the Giants’ Whisenhunt has been largely mediocre in just his second season pitching in the Major Leagues, with the 25-year-old having made just five appearances on the mound as a rookie in 2025.

Though his sample size is quite small, Carson has recorded terrible pitching metrics across the board to kick off his Sophomore campaign, with the Giants’ lefty currently posting a 6.11 ERA on the season.

Whisenhunt has been very inefficient on the bump as well, with the 25-year-old having recorded a 1.71 WHIP thus far across just 28 frames in 2026.

In an interleague clash where the Guardians have a sizable advantage on the mound in addition to Vogt’s club playing in the comfort of their home ballpark in Cleveland, I feel very confident in backing the home team on their first-five moneyline as the first leg in our SGP ahead of Tuesday’s interleague showdown.

Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 HRR

For the second leg of our SGP for Tuesday night, I favor backing Guardians’ slugger Jose Ramirez to have a massive night at the plate despite his struggles in 2026 thus far.

While this will be the first at-bat (AB) that Cleveland’s premier slugger has made versus the Giants’ lefty given Whisenhunt’s minimal experience pitching in the MLB, I heavily favor the switch-hitting seven-time MLB All-Star on Tuesday night.

San Francisco's Carson Whisenhunt has had a very difficult time adjusting to Big League talent and has struggled mightily with command of his arsenal on the mound.

The Giants’ left-hander has frequently found himself behind in counts, which in turn has resulted in his leaving fastballs over the plate that have made him very susceptible to heavy damage and high hard-hit rates on the mound.

Ramirez is a unique switch-hitter who traditionally mashes from the left side against left-handed pitching, which should result in favorable splits versus San Francisco's young lefty.

That said, I favor backing Ramirez to exceed his 1.5 HRR (Hits + Runs + RBIs) mark on Tuesday evening in what I expect to be a monster day at the plate for the Guardians’ slugger.
