Rays vs Orioles MLB Betting Preview
Story: Back Junior to Stay Hot at The Plate
The Orioles will host the Rays on Friday night in the first of a three-game homestand at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
Lefty Trevor Rogers will take the mound for the O’s, while Rays’ newly acquired ace Freddy Peralta will make the start for Tampa Bay.
Below, I will break down this divisional clash and provide a “same-game-parlay” (SGP) betting angle that you can take when wagering on tonight’s action.
For the first leg of my SGP on Friday night, I'm backing no runs scored in the first inning (NRFI) in a pitching matchup I feel is far better than it looks on paper.
In 23 outings in 2026 thus far, the 28-year-old Rogers has recorded a 4.15 ERA along with a 1.25 WHIP across his 125.2 frames on the mound this season.
Though Trevor’s pitching metrics have been far from impressive this season as a whole following a rough start to his 2026 campaign, he has been on an absolute tear over the last couple of months.
He has recorded eight quality starts (QS) over his last 11 outings on the mound, pitching five-plus scoreless innings in two of those three starts where he failed to record a QS.
Following a horrific month of May, Rogers has recorded an impressive 2.45 ERA on the mound to date.
While the Orioles’ lefty has been deceivingly reliable in 2026, my confidence in backing the Rays’ Freddy Peralta to pitch a scoreless first frame is largely based on his impressive track record, as he has finished with an ERA below 3.99 in six of his last seven seasons in the Major Leagues.
Despite his 5.27 ERA in 2026 thus far, Freddy has been quite effective in his previous encounters versus this Baltimore lineup. Former Mets teammate Pete Alonso has been the sole Oriole to have previously recorded an RBI off Peralta.
That said, I expect the NRFI prop to build a solid foundation for our value SGP.
If you have read any of my previous SGP segments for the Action Network, you would know that I typically favor backing two negatively correlated wagers, as the inverse relationship between them results in a parlay magnification on the back end.
In this instance, the best way to do so would be to pair a batter to find success at the plate on Friday night with the NRFI prop, as the inverse relationship will result in our SGP having far more betting value.
That said, I'm willing to take a shot on Rays slugger Junior Caminero to exceed his 1.5 HRR (Hits + Runs + RBIs) mark on Friday’s divisional clash.
In 10 previous at-bats (AB) against Rogers, Caminero has recorded three hits while also driving in two runs.
After finishing his 2025 campaign with 45 homers to go along with 110 RBIs, Junior has continued his reign of dominance this season, ranking inside the top 10 in all of baseball with 35 HRs (4th) and 79 RBIs (T-10th).
Given his elite form at the plate and his previous success versus Rogers, backing Caminero to exceed his 1.5 HRR mark should round out our Friday night SGP quite nicely.
