For my Thursday MLB player props, I'll be looking into Jose Ramirez and Seiya Suzuki.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for the MLB playoff games on Thursday, October 2.
MLB Player Props for October 2, 2025
- Jose Ramirez Over 0.5 Walks (+132, DraftKings)
- Seiya Suzuki Over 1.5 Total Bases (+160, Fanatics)
Tigers vs Guardians Player Props: No Risks Against Ramirez
Surprisingly, a Tigers–Guardians game went over, just barely, after the Guardians scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to claim a 6-1 victory and force today's decisive Game 3.
It was just the 13th time in the last two months that the Guardians have scored six or more, despite the run they have been on. Typically, Jose Ramirez is the one carrying the offense as he was the only Guardian with an .800 OPS in the regular season. However, the Tigers made sure he was not the one to beat them yesterday.
Ramirez walked three times yesterday and drew another on Tuesday as well. He finished 12th in the American League with 66 walks, and eight of them were against the Tigers. Dating back to the regular season, the Guardians' third baseman has drawn a walk in seven of his last 11 games against Detroit, totaling 11 in that span.
Additionally, Ramirez has fared moderately well against Jack Flaherty with two home runs, a double, and an .804 OPS in 27 at-bats. Now, Flaherty has walked Ramirez just once, but he issued 59 in 161 innings in the regular season.
Additionally, given that this is an elimination game, Flaherty may only face Ramirez once or twice if he is pulled early. Manager A.J. Hinch pulled starter Casey Mize after three innings yesterday and may have "pitching chaos" in store for today.
If this game is tight late — and it seems like most Tigers-Guardians games are — Ramirez is not someone the Tigers want to see in the batter's box.
You will get better odds live betting him for a walk, but if he is given first base intentionally, the bet will void. That is not the case by playing him pre-game, and we still get +130 odds.
Padres vs Cubs Player Props: Suzuki on a Hot Streak
Yesterday, the Padres' pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts while issuing only one walk. Mason Miller continued his dominance by striking out five yesterday and fanning the first eight batters he faced to begin his postseason career.
Despite the Padres' dominant performance, the Cubs' Seiya Suzuki still had a double. That followed a home run on Tuesday in his first career postseason game.
Today, Suzuki will face Yu Darvish, and he is 1-for-4 against him with a double as well. In the regular season, 48 of Suzuki's 66 extra-base hits came against right-handed pitchers, including 22 home runs.
Darvish had a career-worst 5.38 ERA this season while returning from injury and being limited to 15 starts. He does have a 3.77 ERA in his postseason career and has fared particularly well during the Padres' last two playoff runs.
As is the case with Flaherty, there is a chance that Darvish could be pulled early in an elimination game, given that Dylan Cease only went three and 2/3 innings yesterday for San Diego.
However, Suzuki finished the regular season with five games where he accomplished this: first with a double, and then with home runs in his final four regular-season games. That has carried over to the postseason, as he has now cleared this line in each of his last seven games. I like his chances to extend that streak to eight today.
