Methodology
To measure the price impact of the 2026 final of the World Baseball Classic in Miami, accommodation prices from Airbnb and Booking.com were compared between the week of the championship and the following week.
Accommodation listings in Miami were collected from Airbnb (534 listings) and Booking.com (1,996 listings) for two separate two-night stays:
- Event period: March 16–18, 2026 (covering the championship game on March 17)
- Baseline period: March 23–25, 2026 (the week after the event)
For each platform, the average price across all listings was calculated. A weighted combined average was then produced using the number of listings on each platform to estimate an overall market price across both sites.
To estimate the typical cost of attending the championship, the event-period accommodation cost was combined with the average ticket price for the final at loanDepot park, along with typical stadium food, drink, and parking costs.
Concession prices were sourced from a stadium pricing analysis by The Action Network using data from the Team Marketing Report covering MLB stadium concessions, including loanDepot park.
The percentage change between the event week and the following week was then calculated to estimate the “event premium” associated with the championship.
