Wint vs. Armand Pick, Prediction

Former NFL linebacker Anthony Wint is one of the more intriguing athletes to join the UFC in recent years; he has substantial upside as a Heavyweight prospect who has only been training MMA for a few years.

Like Jacobe Smith, Wint is being given highly favorable matchups in an effort to inflate his record; Lucas Armand is unbeaten as a professional, but has amateur losses at the same time Wint was beginning his professional career, and an unbeaten record against relative cans (his last opponent is 9-23) on the Michigan regional scene doesn't tell us very much about his abilities. In fact, being unable to finish that 9-23 opponent (Cameron Graham) until Round 4 should be concerning.

While I do project edges on both Wint by decision (projected +5137, listed +650) or by KO/TKO (projected +103, listed +110), I'm inclined to pass.

Wint is developing rapidly and showed both a willingness to grapple and the skill to do so in his last fight; on top of world-class athleticism, that gives him a significant advantage over most Heavyweights.

Zerillo's Pick:

  • Pass
