  • With the NBA on its all-star break, college basketball is the long game in town for many bettors.
  • Because of this, it's likely that tonight's college basketball slate sees more action than on a normal Tuesday night.
  • Below we detail the three most popular public sides for both favorites and underdogs.

College hoops is the only game in town for basketball fans and bettors on Tuesday night, meaning it’ll likely attract even more action than normal.

With this in mind, I decided to examine the latest college basketball odds and betting trends to identify some interesting tidbits heading into Tuesday night’s slate, like the most popular favorites, underdogs, overs and unders.

Let’s take a look.

Tuesday’s College Basketball Odds & Betting Trends

*Odds and public betting trends data as of Tuesday afternoon

3 Most Popular College Basketball Favorites

Yale (-3) vs. Dartmouth

6 p.m. ET

Yale is currently garnering a whopping 89% of spread tickets heading into tonight’s early college basketball matchup, so it’s no surprise that this spread has ticked from -2 to -3 (click here for live college basketball odds).

Miami (-4) vs. Pittsburgh

8 p.m. ET

The Hurricanes have ticked up from an opener of -3.5 to -4 against the Panthers, with some shops even up to -4.5.

Eighty-seven percent of spread bettors are laying the points as of the time of writing.

Bowling Green vs. Akron (-8)

7 p.m. ET

I see a pattern forming. Akron is a big public side tonight — the Zips have landed 86% of spread tickets to this point — and the one-sided action appears to not be lost on oddsmakers, evidenced by the -6.5 to -8 line movement.

3 Most Popular College Basketball Underdogs

Michigan State (+6) vs. Iowa

7 p.m. ET

News flash: casual bettors prefer favorites to underdogs, and Tuesday night is a prime example.

The three most public favorites are receiving more than 85% of the spread action, while the most popular underdog, Michigan State, is at 63% getting six points against Iowa tonight.

New Mexico (+12) vs. Utah State

10 p.m. ET

New Mexico is a 12-point underdogs to Utah State, but bettors expect the Lobos to keep this game relatively close as 63% of spread tickets have come in on the road underdog.

Sienna (+6.5) vs. Monmouth

7 p.m. ET

Sienna vs. Monmouth isn’t likely to be a very popular game among casual bettors, but those who have gotten down on this game — 62% to be exact — are backing the Saints.
