Wake Forest takes on Virginia Tech on Saturday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. ET on The CW. Here's Wake Forest vs Virginia Tech odds and a prediction.

We've got a matchup between a team playing for a spot in the NCAA tournament, and one simply looking to get back on track.

When Wake Forest and Virginia Tech met in January, the Demon Deacons won handily at home.

The Hokies had no answer for Wake's offense and only mustered up 63 points of their own.

A lot has changed since, but Wake has remained the more consistent of the teams.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The ebbs and flows of a college basketball season can always be dramatic, but no team has felt it more than the Demon Deacons over the past week.

Wake got a signature victory over Duke in a game that felt like it'd cement Wake Forest's bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Unfortunately, a trip to South Bend followed and the Demon Deacons suffered a bad loss to Notre Dame that put them back firmly on the bubble.

It's extremely important for Wake to avoid back-to-back losses, so getting Hunter Sallis back on track will be key.

The Gonzaga transfer was the best player on the floor against Duke, but looked lethargic and was out of rhythm against Notre Dame.

Coach Steve Forbes should also put an emphasis on getting the ball inside in this matchup.

Both Andrew Carr and Efton Reid have height advantages over Virginia Tech's bigs and should be able to get some easy buckets inside.

Virginia Tech Hokies

Things haven't gone according to plan for coach Mike Young's team in ACC play.

The Hokies have lost six of their past eight games and have been plagued by an extremely weak defense.

Virginia Tech's guards aren't the most athletic and struggle to stay in front of explosive guards.

Additionally, Virginia Tech's front line is undersized and can often be exposed in the paint by efficient post players.

On the other end, there is plenty of talent.

Both Hunter Cattoor and Sean Pedulla are elite shooters capable of getting hot from 3 at any moment.

Lynn Kidd has taken a step forward on the block and can score in a number of different ways.

One other thing working in the Hokies' favor is the fact that they has been much better at home all season.

The Hokies need to come out of the gates strong offensively and put pressure on a Wake team that desperately needs this game.

Betting Pick & Prediction

Both offenses will have major advantages in this matchup, so I think points will come in bunches.

There are elite shot makers on both rosters, and each team looks to run when it gets out in transition.

I don't see a ton of value on either side and expect this game to be close, but I do see plenty of value on the over in a game where it wouldn't be surprising if either team got into the 80's.

I'd play the over all the way up to 151.5.

Pick: Over 149.5 (Play to 151.5)
