Ole Miss vs Georgia College Basketball Betting Preview
Ole Miss Basketball
Ole Miss is 9-7 overall and 1-2 in the SEC and is coming off an impressive 76-69 win at home against Missouri.
Malik Dia had a big-time performance in that game, recording 21 points, 11 rebounds, one steal and three blocks.
Dia has scored in double figures in eight straight games, and in half of those games, he's had a double-double for the Rebels.
After a quiet SEC debut, AJ Storr had his best game in an Ole Miss uniform in a win against Missouri. He scored 26 points on 8-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3.
Storr has had an up-and-down college career, but if he can maintain anything close to his performance against Missouri, then it significantly increases the ceiling of this team.
Last season, Storr shot 23-of-79 (29%) from 3. This season, he's already at 20 made treys on 50 attempts (40%).
If Ole Miss wants any chance to upset Georgia, it'll need Storr to show his full potential in this matchup.
Georgia Basketball
Georgia is 14-2 overall and 2-1 in the SEC after its 75-70 road win at South Carolina.
The Bulldogs continue to be one of the fastest teams in the country, with the second fastest tempo, according to KenPom.
Georgia is looking to attack the rim quickly and often as it's fourth in the country in 2-point percentage (61.7%).
Jeremiah Wilkinson had a big time SEC debut with 31 against Auburn, but he's had back-to-back quiet games in conference play.
Georgia is going to do what it can to get its leading scorer going against an Ole Miss backcourt that's given up an average of 22 points per game against SEC guards.
An X-factor in this game is Kanon Catchings. After four straight quiet games, he had 12 points and six rebounds at Florida and 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists at South Carolina.
If Catchings proves to be a consistent double-digit scorer who can shoot the 3-ball, Georgia should win this game comfortably.
Ole Miss vs. Georgia Betting Analysis
The key in this game is transition points.
Ole Miss plays at one of the slowest tempos in college basketball, so I don't expect it to be aggressive in transition. In fact, it's only given up nine total points in transition in three SEC games.
Georgia had 18 points in transition in its win against South Carolina and 20 in its win against Auburn.
In Georgia's loss to Florida, the Bulldogs only had 10 points in transition.
I think Georgia figures out a way to score against Ole Miss' transition defense and Wilkinson has a bounce-back game for the Bulldogs at home.
My Pick: Georgia -10.5
