The Big East is home to an important contest on Friday night as Xavier travels to Indianapolis for a showdown with Butler.
Xavier sits at No. 22 in the AP Top 25, and a win in Hinkle Fieldhouse would go a long way to proving that the Musketeers are for real. Butler is in a different battle at the moment, as the team simply hopes to get into the March Madness picture.
The Bulldogs' 8-5 record, which included with losses to every quality team they've faced outside of DePaul, isn't going to cut it. A win against a ranked opponent would be a good first step in turning the corner.
The Musketeers haven't played a game since Dec. 21 due to COVID issues, so it will be interesting to see if they can recapture the type of play that they were mustering at the end of 2021. Xavier had won seven straight before a loss to Villanova.
