Towson vs Navy Preview
Towson Tigers Betting Preview
Towson is a young and inexperienced team under fourth-year head coach Pete Shinnick, but we saw a decent amount of fight out of the Tigers in the opener against Maine.
The defense was torched early, but it shut Maine out in the second half while allowing just 89 total yards. The offense played very slow, running just 62 total plays behind a rush-heavy approach.
That said, the offensive line struggled to set at the line of scrimmage, and the ground game failed to register an explosive. Six sacks were allowed, and Towson struggled in Standard Downs while also converting just four of 12 third-down attempts.
Quarterback Andrew Indorf was the CAA Co-offensive rookie of the year, and he went 15-for-21 for 267 yards and two scores. Half of the passing yards came on deep passes to Cleveland Charlton and Kemarrion Battles — the latter also lead the team in rushing with 89 yards.
The offensive line play has to be better against Navy if Towson wants to sustain possession and stay on the field.
Navy Midshipmen Betting Preview: [Editorial Language]
Navy is coming off back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in program history, with senior-led skill position players being the slingshot on offense. Blake Horvath, Eli Heidenreich, Brandon Chatman and Alex Tecza were cornerstones of the Navy offense, averaging in excess of 31 points per game over the past two seasons.
Sadly, all four depart this season, and a new platoon is prepared to take command.
QB1 Braxton Woodson has experience at his position, while Vic Lisorti, Charles Robinson, and Isaiah Bryant are ready for their opportunity. The offensive line has experience and should be a well-oiled machine, although I expect the overall explosiveness of this attack to take a step back.
Navy's defense has been consistent against both the run and the pass over the past several seasons, and the Mids have been better at generating Havoc.
But the defensive line is going through a rebuild with only one starter back, and that might hurt in the trenches.
Coleman Cauley, MarcAnthony Parker, and Job Grant return at linebacker, while Will Miller will man the "Striker" position.
The secondary will start four upperclassmen, including Giuseppe Sessi, Phillip Hamilton, and Ira Oniha, who all have experience in the 3-4 varying front.
This defense won't be elite, but they'll do fine in the opener.

Towson vs Navy Pick, Betting Analysis
This line opened with Navy as 31.5-point favorites, with a total that opened at 53.5 and has been bet down to 51.5.
I am in on the Under.
The pace of this game will be slow. Both teams will operate with an exhausted play clock on almost every snap.
Despite having a proven quarterback in Indorf, Towson still ran the ball on 66% of its snaps against Maine. With the Navy defensive line in a rebuild, the Tigers should rely on the ground game again.
The Tigers were fortunate to connect on a pair of deep passes last week, but they barely generated explosives outside of that. Navy has a strong secondary that should keep everything in front.
The Middies will run their Wing-T offense, and it'll feel similar. But we saw Army go through a changing of the guard last season, and the offensive output plummeted by over a touchdown per game. They could lean into more methodical drives, and I don't expect the scoring output to be as high, especially early in the season.
Woodson has some dynamic playmaking ability, but with a conference game on the road on deck, I could see Navy running up a comfortable margin and then running out the clock as quickly as possible.
Pick: Under 51.5 or Better
