Notable Names/Past Winners

Patrick Mahomes is once again the favorite to win MVP heading into the season. He’s already won two, and a third would put him in elite company as he’d join Peyton Manning (five), Aaron Rodgers (four), Top Brady (three), Jim Brown (three) and Johnny Unitas (three) as the only players to win more than two.

Josh Allen has the second-best odds, and was the only player other than Jackson to receive a first-place vote for this year’s MVP. Meanwhile, Joe Burrow’s been a perennial candidate over the years, and much is expected of him as he returns from injury.

C.J. Stroud burst onto the scene right away, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors as he led the Texans to the AFC South title. Expectations are he’ll take his game to the next level as he has the fourth-best odds to win MVP.

Like Mahomes, Jackson can enter elite company by winning his third MVP. He’d also join Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Joe Montana and Jim Brown as the only players wo win the award in back-to-back seasons.

Speaking of Rodgers, the four-time winner has the 13th best odds after playing only four snaps for the Jets before tearing his Achilles.

Young Players Near the Top

Stroud isn’t the only neophyte quarterback expected to be in MVP contention next season. Jordan Love also impressed in his first season as QB, leading the Packers to the divisional round of the playoffs and ranking among the top quarterbacks in expected points added per play and completion percentage over expected. He’d join Rodgers and Favre as Green Bay QBs to win the award.

Long Shots Who Are Interesting

Christian McCaffrey took home Offensive Player of the Year honors for the 2023 campaign. Can he take home the MVP award in 2024? He has the highest odds of any non-quarterback at +10000.  Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill have the highest odds among wide receivers +10000, while Myles Garrett has the best odds among defensive players (+20000).
