Broncos vs Chiefs Prop Picks, Preview
Kenneth Walker Over 16.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

Kenneth Walker steps into a Kansas City backfield that was built specifically to fix what plagued the Chiefs' ground game last season — and the money backs it up. A three-year, $43 million deal with $28.7 million fully guaranteed, one of the largest free-agent investments the Chiefs made this offseason.
He arrives fresh off a Super Bowl MVP performance and stretch where he posted 313 rushing yards and four touchdowns in three playoff games, plus 104 receiving yards — proof he's more than a between-the-tackles option when Kansas City wants to get him the ball in space.
The receiving role specifically lines up well here too. Over his four seasons in Seattle, Walker caught 133 passes for 1,005 yards, showing he's a consistent enough safety-valve target to matter in the passing game, not just a between-the-tackles grinder.
With Patrick Mahomes back from a torn ACL and expected to lean on quick, high-percentage throws early in his return, checkdowns to the new lead back are a logical way to keep the offense moving without forcing him into deep-ball reads right away.
Denver's defense also finished a middling 12th against the pass last season and is breaking in new pieces, which gives Kansas City's offense room to work underneath.
A modest receiving floor in the mid-to-high teens looks very achievable for Walker in a get-acquainted Week 1 spot.
Pick: Kenneth Walker Over 16.5 Receiving Yards (-115, DraftKings)
Evan Engram Over 22.5 Receiving Yards (-113)

Evan Engram's first year in Denver didn't live up to the two-year, $23 million deal he signed. He had 50 catches for 461 yards and just one touchdown, including a quiet postseason (three catches, 26 yards across two playoff games) that fueled trade speculation this offseason.
However, for all the disappointment, head coach Sean Payton has been explicit that Engram remains part of the plan, telling reporters this offseason the team views him as "a key piece" who gave the Broncos "a lot of big plays" and will keep finding ways to expand his workload.
This is not the language of a team planning to bury him on the depth chart. There's also a real path to opportunity here.
Denver's offense now features Jaylen Waddle as a true outside threat after the offseason trade, which should draw extra coverage attention away from the middle of the field, which is exactly where Engram does his best work as a mismatch tight end.
Kansas City's linebacker corps, anchored by Nick Bolton and Drue Tranquill, is solid against the run, but Denver's staff has shown a willingness to attack the middle of the field with Engram on early downs and third-down situations regardless of matchup.
Given his role as Bo Nix's most trusted underneath option and a defense that's still figuring out its coverage identity after losing three defensive backs this offseason, clearing this number looks reasonable even with last year's disappointing overall numbers as the backdrop.
Pick: Evan Engram Over 22.5 Receiving Yards (-113, FanDuel)
Wil Lutz Over 6.5 Kicking Points (-120)

Wil Lutz has quietly been one of the most reliable kickers in football since arriving in Denver, hitting 89.7% of his field goals and 97.4% of extra points over his two seasons as a Bronco. Last season, he went 28-of-32 on field goals, including 4-of-6 from 50-plus yards.
That kind of accuracy matters for an over number like this because it means when Denver's offense stalls in scoring range, Lutz is a near-automatic three points rather than a coin flip.
His track record specifically against Kansas City is even more encouraging.
In two meetings with the Chiefs last season, Lutz scored 16 points in one (a perfect 5-for-5 on field goals) and six points in the other (2-of-2 field goals, 2-of-2 PATs), both games in which Denver leaned on him as a central scoring piece rather than relying purely on the passing game to find the end zone.
Sean Payton's offense has consistently been willing to take points off the board via field goals rather than force it on fourth down, which keeps Lutz's opportunity volume high regardless of how explosive the offense looks on a given drive.
Pick: Will Lutz Over 6.5 Kicking Points (-120, bet365)
Bo Nix Under 0.5 Interceptions (-105)

Bo Nix threw 11 interceptions across 17 starts last season, meaning that in the majority of his games, he protected the football and finished with zero picks.
That's a meaningfully better decision-making profile than his raw counting stat might suggest, especially given he led the NFL in pass attempts (612) last year, meaning his interception rate per throw was actually quite manageable given the sheer opportunity volume.
His opening matchup points toward that trend continuing. Kansas City's defense was one of the least opportunistic units in the league last season, forcing the fourth-fewest turnovers (14) of any team in the NFL.
Instead of improving that secondary, the Chiefs actually got thinner there over offseason, trading away two-time All-Pro corner Trent McDuffie and losing starter Jaylen Watson and safety Bryan Cook in free agency.
Kansas City is now leaning on largely unproven pieces in the back end, including rookie first-rounder Mansoor Delane and second-year corner Nohl Williams, to replace that experience.
A defense that wasn't generating takeaways even with a more established secondary, now breaking in new starters in Week 1 on the road against a team with a full season of chemistry, isn't the profile of a unit likely to pick a quarterback off, especially one who now has a true No. 1 receiving threat in Jaylen Waddle to target with more confidence than he had a year ago.
Pick: Bo Nix Under 0.5 Interceptions (-105, bet365)
