Cardinals vs Rams Week 18 Preview

The Cardinals enter the final week of the season with a shot at getting the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, given they lose and a few other teams win. However, this is not an offense built to tank.

Yes, Arizona shut down wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., but Trey McBride and Michael Wilson have been dynamite for the Cardinals down the stretch. With a litter of running back injuries and inefficiency on the ground, Arizona has thrown the ball more than team in the NFL.

That will be the theme of their offense, regardless of who is out there for the Rams. In most cases, it's likely we see the Rams rest starters in the second half, which opens the backdoor for this vertical Arizona offense.

On the other side of this matchup, the Rams have already clinched a playoff spot. However, they do have a possibility of improving their seeding since the 49ers lost on Saturday night.

This possibility, along with some struggles on the field, has led head coach Sean McVay to say that he will play his starters in this matchup. The market reacted heavily during the 49ers game as the line jumped from 8.5 to 14 by the time it was over.

While the Rams have something to play for in this matchup, the motivation isn't the highest, and I'm not buying that the starters will play deep into this game, given McVay's history of resting his starters whenever the chance presents itself.

Cardinals vs Rams Prediction, Betting Analysis

The market has bought into McVay's public stance that the Rams' starters will play the duration of this matchup.

Although my skepticism is very valid, and if anything, I doubt we see them for the majority of the second half.

When the starters get pulled, the backdoor will be wide open for a Cardinals offense that will not stop throwing the ball.

Back the Cardinals to cover the spread.

Pick: Cardinals +14.5 (-110); bet to +14
