  • The Washington Football Team's starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was ruled out for the rest of the team's game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a right hip injury. He's set to have an MRI on Monday.
  • Fitzpatrick had thrown just six passes for 13 yards prior to suffering the injury.
  • The 49ers' Raheem Mostert is questionable to return to San Francisco's game against the Detroit Lions with a right knee injury.

Unfortunately, there have already been a few notable injuries early in this Week 1 NFL slate.

The most notable injury so far has been to the Washington Football Team's starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has been ruled out for the rest of its game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a right hip injury.

The 38-year-old journeyman signed with Washington this offseason after two years with the Miami Dolphins. Fitzpatrick had gone 3-for-6 for just 13 yards on Sunday before going down.

Washington's playoff hero from last year, Taylor Heinicke, is now in at quarterback for the Football Team.

Washington had closed as a two-point favorite over Los Angeles for the clash in Maryland.

Another notable injury occurred to Jerry Jeudy, who had to be carted off the field with a high ankle sprain after a gruesome collision.

49ers' starting running back Raheem Mostert suffered a knee injury during San Francisco's second drive of the game. Mostert had missed most of last season with a high-ankle sprain. He is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Backup running back Elijah Mitchell then subbed in the next drive and took a 38-yard run to the house to put San Francisco up 14-7 in the second quarter.

JaMychal Hasty later added a second rushing touchdown to put the Niners up 21-10 later in the second.

Niners running back Trey Sermon had already been ruled as a healthy scratch for Sunday's game.

Mostert had been ranked as an RB11 in The Action Network's fantasy experts' rankings prior to the game.

The Action Network's Sean Koerner had said prior to Mostert's injury that he “was already a solid RB2 who is a must-start in every format. Now he is a slam dunk RB1/2 play."

Mostert finished Week 1 with two fantasy points on 20 rushing yards.

The 49ers closed as 9-point favorites over the Lions. The total of the game was 46.5.

A fourth injury occurred to the Pittsburgh Steelers' Diontae Johnson, who went down awkwardly while blocking.

Johnson was removed from the game momentarily but soon returned.

The 25-year-old had four different injuries last year but missed only one game. The former third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft suffered a preseason foot injury, a toe sprain, a concussion and a lumbar sprain last season. It is currently unclear what he tweaked on Sunday.

The Bills closed as 6.5-point favorites against the Steelers.
