Patriots vs. Broncos

Russell Wilson

To Throw INT (+145)

This might seem like a risky play given the incoming snowy weather and all of the Patriots faults on offense but their defense is still above-average defending the pass. That’s why I like them to get an interception on Broncos QB Russell Wilson.

The Patriots forced Patrick Mahomes into two INT last week and one pick from Mitch Trubisky in Week 14. They can still be opportunistic and take away the offense’s top options, which will make Russ’s trusted first-read WR Courtland Sutton see a lot of double coverage. This is a matchup where the Pats are going to force the Broncos to throw. New England’s defense has been decent vs the run (2nd in rush yards allowed) and the Broncos haven’t been good in the red-zone converting TDs (22nd in NFL).

I expected the odds for Wilson INT in this spot to be closer to +110 to +115 as he hadn’t thrown an INT in his last four home games. But at +145, sportsbooks have clearly laid the bait and I’m happy to take it at that price.

Pick: Russell Wilson To Throw INT (+145)

Giants vs. Eagles

Jalen Hurts

To Throw INT (+155)

Another gross one but, at these odds, I’m going to bet it every time. I was on Jalen Hurts interception last week when he was in Seattle battling a virus and he cashed in for me on a wild deep pass to WR AJ Brown. The matchup and talent in the Seahawks secondary is what drew me in but this time, we need to take a bit of a leap of faith facing a woeful Giants defense.

The good news is the Giants aren’t completely incompetent defending the pass. They’re middle of the pack when it comes to passing yards allowed and TDs but have generated 13 interceptions this season. With Tommy DeVito at QB, the Giants have forced an opposing QB to throw an INT in four of five games.

Now, here comes the leap of faith part: the Giants are an awful run defense. And they’re facing an Eagles team that thrives on running the ball and has dropped three games in a row. This could be a blowout in a hurry as evidenced by the Anytime TD odds of RB3 Boston Scott at +400. Even sportsbooks are preparing for the likelihood of third-stringers getting into the endzone.

Jalen Hurts, for all his strengths, has struggled with turnovers this year in comparison to last season. He has 12 INT in 2023 through 14 games after only having six in 15 games last year. I had expected odds coming into this game around +120. At +155 (much like Wilson), I can’t pass on it.

Pick: Jalen Hurts To Throw INT (+155)
